Adrian retracted his gaze. "It's getting late. We should go back and have some rest. Chandler, you take Helen back, and the three of us will go together."

Chandler hummed and watched the three of them leave.

Meanwhile, Zac noticed them and walked over. He stared at Helen, then averted his gaze after a short while and said to Chandler, "Long time no see. You're not avoiding me, are you?"

Chandler remained calm. "You're overthinking. We're just tired."

Zac smirked as his gaze shifted between Chandler and Helen. Then, he embraced the woman in front of him. "Since we were once a family, let me introduce my fiance, Julia Spark."

Chandler didn't give him any face and ignored him completely. He turned his head to Helen. "Wait for me here. I'll get the car."

Helen nodded. With that, Chandler walked away without any concern for Zac and Julia's awkwardness.

Julia didn't mind and comforted Zac. "Zac, don't mind them. I'll always be here for you."

Zac forced a smile and kissed Julia's forehead. "Be a good girl and wait for me in the car, okay?"

She smiled and nodded before walking away.

After Julia left, only Helen and Zac remained. He looked at her, feeling a moment of estrangement as if they were a world apart. He paused before speaking, "I didn't expect you to be with Chandler."

Inside the car, Chandler asked, "What did he say to you?"

Helen looked at the passing night scenery outside the window and replied, "Nothing important, just some trivial matters."

Seeing this, he didn't ask further. "It's late. You should rest for a while. I'll wake you up when we arrive."

Helen slowly closed her eyes, but Zac's words kept echoing in her mind. Even though she told herself not to mind him, his words kept resurfacing in her thoughts, making her inexplicably irritated. She leaned against the seat and felt restless.

Once home, Helen washed up and went straight to the bed, and fell asleep as soon as she lay down.
