Chapter 318 novel Unmasking Mrs. Newton's Secret Identities

After coming out of the school, Helen saw the familiar car and walked toward it. After knocking on the window, it started winding down. Chandler was slightly surprised. "Is class already over?"

Helen nodded right away without hesitation.

"Where are we going?" she asked.

However, Chandler was acting mysterious. "You'll know soon enough."

He started driving and brought Helen to a vintage restaurant. Even the waiters there were wearing vintage uniforms.

Helen and Chandler went straight to the private room upstairs. "This place looks nice," Helen said sincerely. Soon after that, Chandler pulled out a seat for her. "Have a seat."

The two of them sat opposite each other. Then, the waiter brought two complementary gifts into the room. "We wish you a Merry Christmas Eve."

Chandler's eyebrows raised slightly. "Christmas Eve?"

Helen explained, "That's right. It's Christmas Eve today."

Chandler didn't know that, so he didn't prepare any gifts. After thinking about it, he said to Helen, "I've been busy with work recently, so I didn't even have the time to go out."

Helen was understanding. "There must be a lot of things you need to take care of at the company. You sure have worked hard."

Chandler looked up at her. He was calm and emotionless. "Actually, I asked you out because I wanted to talk with you about something today."

Helen nodded as she poured a drink for him.

"Is there something you want to discuss with me?"

Chandler took a glance at the drink in her hand and accepted it. After taking a sip, he gently nodded.

Then, Helen asked again. "What is it? Go ahead and tell me!"

Chandler looked up again and met her gaze. As they both looked into each other's eyes, he finally said slowly, "Let's get married."

It was a simple sentence, but it was enough to shock Helen. Her hand trembled, and all the contents in her cup spilled.

"What… What did you say?"

Chandler knew she was surprised, so he calmly explained, "I want to fulfill Grandpa's final wish. So, marry me, Helen!"

Helen's heart was racing, but rationality brought her back to reality.

"So, you only meant to fulfill Grandpa's wish?"

Chandler nodded. Other than that, he found no reason to do that.

Helen felt disappointed and said, "But I'm only 18 years old this year, and that's still too young."

Chandler said, "That's alright. We can get engaged first. Then, we'll get married after two years."

"But…"

Helen wanted to say something else, but she was interrupted by Chandler. "No buts. If you don't want to do it, you can just tell me. I won't force you into it."

Helen pursed her lips. Before she could say anything, Chandler continued, "Grandpa loved me the most since I was young, and he had high expectations of me. Since this is his final wish, I don't want to disappoint him."

Helen shrugged, implying that she didn't know as well.

However, she thought that Phishie and Tyrone looked great together. If the two of them could end up together, it wouldn't be a bad thing as well.

"Whatever. Let's go home now."

Chandler nodded. "If you have any idea what you want to do with the ceremony, you can tell Carles about it. He'll make all the arrangements."

Hearing what he said, Helen knew he didn't care about the engagement that much. She couldn't help feeling slightly hurt. She knew deep in her heart that if it weren't for Esmond, Chandler would've never brought up the engagement with her.

When the scions of the Newton family found out about Helen and Chandler's engagement, Jenson was the most surprised. "Chandler, you must be kidding us, right? Are you really going to get engaged with Helen? Is she suddenly going to be my sister-in-law?"

Meanwhile, Tyrone thought it was unbelievable as well. "Chandler, a marriage isn't a joke. Although this is Grandpa's final wish, you really don't have to put yourself in a difficult spot. After all, Helen looks…"

When Tyrone said that, he purposely cleared his throat to hide the awkwardness. "Regardless, Helen is from a village. Even if we ignore her looks, you can clearly find someone better."

Among the brothers, Adrian was the least likely to express himself. However, he couldn't help but give his opinion as well. "Chandler, I know the Newton family doesn't care about traditional marriages, but both sides should at least be willing. If you don't love her, why make her do something she doesn't want to do?"

"Exactly, Chandler. I think there's really no need for a marriage. A marriage without love is a dead relationship…"

Before Jenson could continue, Chandler slowly said, "I've already made up my mind. Regardless of what you think, Helen and I are getting engaged. Adrian, I'm going to have to trouble you and your studio for the attire. As for the rest of you, you don't have to worry about it. I know what to do."

After Chandler said that, the other three brothers obediently shut their mouths.

They knew Chandler had always been self-opinionated since he was young. So, they decided to stop talking about it. However, they were still worried about the marriage. After all, how long could a marriage without love last?
