Being a designer was unlike any other career. It required time to learn the skills, and Adrian thought Helen had nothing.
With that thought in mind, he felt more at ease. He figured that he didn't need to think too much about it. He just needed to wait for Helen's design.
When Claire returned to the design room, she realized that Helen was almost done with the modifications. When she looked at the design, she was stunned. It was as good as her boss' design. In fact, Claire thought Helen's version was even better.
"Ms. Spencer, are you sure you're not an expert?" Claire asked hesitantly.
Helen pursed her lips and said, "You can say I'm not in the field right now."
Claire felt like crying. If an outsider were that impressive, she would lose her job in the industry.
"You're incredibly talented, Ms. Spencer," Claire said emotionally.
Helen looked at the gown in front of her and said, "The gown is basically done. There are just a few final details we need to fix. Can you help me later?"
Claire nodded, and the two of them started with the final stitchings. Helen slowly stitched the gown thread by thread while Claire helped her at the side. They were in sync until the very end. When they were done, Helen finally rubbed her arms, which had been sore for a long time. "It's finally done."
Claire stretched as well. "Ms. Spencer, you're so awesome! I can't believe you fixed the gown in just a day."
Helen got up and rubbed at her numb legs. Then, she looked up at the clock on the wall. It was already 10:00 pm.
"Is it that late already? I didn't realize at all," Helen said.
Right after Helen said that, her stomach rumbled. That was when she finally realized she hadn't had any dinner yet.
"It's late, Ms. Spencer. Since we're done, we should head home now," Claire said.
Claire happily said to the restaurant owner, "Excuse me. Two bottles of beer, please!"
Seeing how habitually Claire acted, Helen couldn't help but ask, "Do you come here often?"
Claire explained, "Not really. I only came a few times with my colleagues. Their barbecue tastes great, and you'll find out soon."
Helen nodded. "Sure. I shall see how great it is."
As Helen spoke, her phone started ringing. After taking it out of her pocket, she saw it was Chandler calling and answered it.
"Where are you? It's late. Why aren't you back yet?" he asked.
Hearing Chandler's voice, Helen said, "I'm having supper outside. Do you want to come?"
