"Thank you for your reminder. But it seems you don't really understand your son. His thoughts may not align with yours.
"Your words today haven't weakened my determination to be with him. Instead, they've only strengthened my resolve. Anyway, I'm a bit tired, so I'll go rest upstairs first. You should also get some rest."
After saying this, Helen turned around, straightened her back, and left, leaving Priscilla beside herself with frustration. Where did this country bumpkin get the audacity to challenge her like this?
Priscilla took out her phone and made a call. "Hello, it's me! Are you free tomorrow?"
…
Back in her room, Helen shed all pretenses and looked utterly dejected. When Desmond was still around, she never had to worry about anything.
Now, Priscilla was telling her to give up and not to entertain the thoughts she shouldn't have. But now that it had come to this, was there any turning back?
The next day, Helen got up early as she promised Adrian that she would help out at the studio. After finishing breakfast alone, she had the driver take her straight to Adrian's studio.
"Helen, why are you here so early?" Adrian asked in surprise when he saw her.
She looked up at him and said, "I didn't have anything else to do, so I came early. Is my office still in the same place?"
"I've cleared out a larger space for you. Follow me."
Helen followed him eagerly to the end of the corridor where he stopped and opened a door. Inside was a large room with several mannequins displaying different styles of wedding dresses.
"This is where you'll be working this summer. What do you think? Are you satisfied?"
Helen walked in, looked around, and walked over to the floor-to-ceiling window. The view was breathtaking.
Adrian approached her and looked at the drawings on her desk. He was amazed. "You drew all this in one morning?"
She nodded. "I had a lot of inspiration today, so I sketched a few designs."
"Your efficiency is incredible! But don't forget to eat even if you're busy. Take a break."
Helen stopped working and looked at the clock on the wall. It was almost 1:00 p.m. She was taken aback. "How is it already this late?"
Adrian sighed helplessly. "It's time for lunch."
She stretched lazily, stood up, and said, "Alright, I'll go eat now."
