Helen heard the sound of light footsteps gradually receding. So, she shouted, "Stop! Who are you? Open this door now!"
Samantha paid no mind to her voice. Not only did she refuse to open the door, but she also locked the entire restroom.
Helen quickly pulled out her phone, but the signal was weak. Despite her attempts, she couldn't make a call.
So, she settled onto the toilet seat to collect her thoughts. She felt that being stuck there wasn't such a bad thing after all. Plus, she wasn't thrilled about attending the rehearsal.
Then, she retrieved her notebook and began working on Gerard's math problem.
Samantha returned to the main conference room. But nobody seemed to notice anything out of the ordinary.
Soon, someone said, "Since we're pretty much familiar with the script now, how about we start rehearsing?"
"Yeah, sounds good."
"Hey, where's the lead actress? Anyone seen her?"
Sadly, nobody could find Helen. Then, someone chimed in, "She's in the restroom. She'll be back in a while."
Then, Samantha quickly said, "Helen told me she's not feeling well and asked for a sick day. She won't be at rehearsals today. Let's just run through the basics and then head back to rest."
With no objections, they started rehearsing.
Meanwhile, Helen stayed focused on her math problem while holed up in the restroom.
As minutes turned into hours, night crept in without her noticing. Despite her prolonged stay in the restroom, her mind remained consumed with problem-solving. After diligently working through several pages of calculations, she finally reached a solution.
She glanced at the time and noticed it was already 11:00 pm. The unmistakable sound of her stomach growling reminded her that she was hungry.
She found it peculiar that no one had come to the restroom after so many hours.
She sat on the school pavilion's veranda, munching away on her meal box without any concern for etiquette.
"Slow down. Nobody is going to snatch your food," Chandler chided.
Helen smiled and said, "I'm just starving." With that, she eased up on her pace.
As she finished most of her food, Chandler asked, "Can you tell me what happened now?"
Helen had a hunch about what had happened, but she wasn't entirely sure. So. she said, "I'll sort it out. It's likely just a classmate accidentally locking me in."
He frowned and probed, "Are you sure it was an accident?"
Helen nodded. "Without solid proof, I'll assume it was. But I'll look into it. Whoever it was, I'll deal with them."
He sighed helplessly. "As your fiancé and future husband, sometimes it's tough not being needed by you."
