Helen was stunned when she heard Zac's words. Hadn't the police taken him away?

"If you still consider me a friend, then come. I've sent the location to your phone."

Soon after, Zac sent his location. It was a famous restaurant in Ashpoint. Usually one had to request a booking in advance, and maybe even wait several days for a response.

Helen hesitated but decided to go. She never expected Zac to have reserved the entire place. What was his reason for such an extravagant gesture?

"What's so urgent that you had to see me?" Helen was puzzled.

She didn't know what happened after the police took him away. But seeing his lavish spending... Did Chandler let him off?

"Can't we talk while eating? Besides, we don't have animosity between us, do we? Why are you so guarded against me?"

Zac smirked, pouring tea for Helen. Zac was never one for healthy living!

"I'm not guarded against you. We're just not on the same path anymore. Zac, if Chandler spared you, you should turn over a new leaf," Helen couldn't help but advise.

But Zac dismissed her words with a laugh. Looking at Helen, he sneered.

"Turn over a new leaf? Helen, you can't understand this pain unless you've been through it yourself. Do you know how I've lived these years? Do you know how I escaped after being taken away by the police?"

If Zac hadn't suddenly announced his independence, she wouldn't have known he was illegitimate.

Though she hadn't lived Zac's life, she could imagine the life of an illegitimate child. Since she failed to dissuade him before, seeing the hatred in his eyes now, she knew that trying to persuade him was futile.

"So what's your purpose in calling me out today? Is it for a meal, or do you want me to relay a message to Chandler?"

Helen still had not touched the tea Zac poured. Her question cut straight to the point.

Helen was stunned. It was the first time she had seen Zac so enraged.

"I brought you here to ask this—do you want to be with me or not?"

"No!" Helen stated firmly, throwing the truth in his face. "Even if I weren't engaged to Chandler, I wouldn't be with you. Zac, asking such things is irresponsible!"

As Helen got up to leave, Zac grabbed her arm. Helen couldn't shake him off.

"What? Getting physical now?" Helen scoffed.

Before Zac could respond, several tall men in black suits emerged, closing in on Zac. Under their intimidation, Zac had to let go of Helen.

Seeing them, Helen recalled something Chandler had said. Suddenly, a warmth spread through her heart.
