Chapter 350: Cuddly right? novel Venerable Demon King & The Doting Immortal (QT)
"Sure," Han Xin replied, his voice low-pitched and slightly hoarse. The sound sent a ripple of awareness through Xiang Yu as he moved to fetch another bottle of water. He returned and sat down next to Han Xin, their shoulders almost touching.
Xiang Yu sat leisurely, his gaze drifting over Han Xin. There was a softness in his eyes, a hint of something deeper. He took a sip from the bottle, feeling the cool liquid slide down his throat, but the heat rose to his cheeks almost immediately.
Han Xin had long restrained his pheromones, but some still lingered in the air, intoxicating Xiang Yu and making it hard for him to think clearly.
With a small smile, Xiang Yu tugged at his collar, as if trying to cool himself down. Han Xin’s eyes flickered to the exposed skin on Xiang Yu’s neck, his heart racing. He quickly looked away, gulping down the water to steady himself.
Though he was upset earlier his rationality had kicked in. He thought about the dinner with Xiang Yu’s father. What if Xiang Yu was meeting with the princess just to appease his father? Wouldn’t it be foolish to be angry about that? Yet, a part of him expected Xiang Yu to take him along when he meets her. After all, this was a situation where an attendant would be necessary.
He pushed the thought aside for now. As for the call earlier, he would settle accounts with Xiang Yu later. Han Xin cleared his throat, breaking the silence. "How was dinner with your father?"
"It was fine," Xiang Yu replied, his voice steady. "Peng Xiu asked for you again." Han Xin’s Adam’s apple bobbed as he processed this information. The mention of Peng Xiu stirred a complex mix of emotions within him.
His voice broke the silence. "So did you agree?"
Xiang Yu smiled slightly as he lay back on the couch, his eyes drifting to the ceiling. "I asked you if you wanted to leave, and you said no. You should have seen her face. It was hilarious."
He chuckled softly, the sound light and carefree. He took a deep breath, greedily inhaling the lingering scent of Han Xin before it faded into the air.
For a moment, Han Xin remained silent, the weight of his thoughts pressing down on him. "Your Highness," he finally said, his tone measured.
Xiang Yu, who had closed his eyes, hummed softly in response, not fully asleep.
"Would you have let me go if I said yes?" Han Xin asked, his voice low.
An ache settled in Xiang Yu’s chest. He could have answered honestly, could have said no, as he would never let Han Xin go. He would rather lock them both in a little black room and throw away the key.
Lian and Mei could take care of food and water. But deep down, Xiang Yu knew that a twisted melon wasn’t sweet. He wanted Han Xin to choose to be with him, not because he felt forced to.
"I would have let you leave," Xiang Yu replied, his voice steady, but doubt lingered in the air. The atmosphere shifted, becoming tense and suffocating. A flash of lightning illuminated the room, and for a brief moment, Xiang Yu tilted his head to look at Han Xin.
When the light struck, it cast half of Han Xin’s face in the shadows, making him appear like a resentful ghost lurking in the dark, ready to attack. Xiang Yu could tell when Han Xin was angry, and this time, he looked furious. But what was he angry about?
