"What justice? Everything I did was for you!" Joe exclaimed.

Joe's voice brimmed with frustration. It was laced with an almost pleading tone.

"Yvan, don't just focus on how the Forbes Group shareholders refuse to accept Zayn. Let me tell you the truth. They'll reject you even more. You don't own a single share in the company. Why would they listen to you? But if I transfer Josephine's shares to you, you'll become the major shareholder. You'll be able to stand tall, even in front of Zayn. Do you understand?"

Josephine was stunned. She never imagined that the real reason Joe had been pressuring her to hand over her shares was so he could give them to Yvan.

Joe had truly spoiled Yvan beyond reason.

She turned to look at Zayn on the hospital bed. Both of them were Joe's sons, yet his favoritism was painfully obvious.

No wonder Zayn had been so anxious after Joe revised his will. He had transferred funds, launched a film project, and even turned to Nadine.

Of course, none of that excused his infidelity. His betrayal and desperation were two entirely separate matters. She refused to let sympathy cloud her judgment.

At that moment, Yvan spoke. His tone was calm and resolute.

"The moment I agreed to come back and take over the family business, I decided to do it right. If you don't believe in me then take the company back. I'll leave and continue making music abroad. But if you do, then stop interfering with all these pointless schemes. I don't need these underhanded tactics as a crutch."

Wow. That almost made him sound noble. He made it sound like he was some kind of righteous hero.

Josephine might've actually believed him if she didn't know him so well. She curled her lips in quiet disdain.

Joe fumed on the other end of the call. "Underhanded? Business is a battlefield! There's no such thing as an honest businessman. Do you think Zayn plays fair? Let me tell you something. If he ever sets his sights on you, he won't hold back just because you're his brother. He'll tear you apart without hesitation. You want to play fair? You'll be left with nothing but bones!"
