Ethan was right about that.

Despite knowing her health wasn't great and having been told to eat properly that morning—she had even thought of herself as a mature adult capable of taking care of herself—she had still fainted at noon and was now trying to skip dinner.

Feeling guilty, she avoided Ethan's gaze and mumbled softly, "I had a proper breakfast and lunch, so skipping dinner isn't a big deal."

Ethan said calmly, "It's not a big deal—except that it'll make you weaker and slow down your recovery." There was a trace of displeasure in his tone.

He had been helping her, taking care of her all this time. When she fainted earlier, he was the one who stayed by her bedside.

So, he had every right to scold her.

As her guilt deepened, she took the initiative to open the bags, trying to change the subject.

"What did you buy? Oh wow, my favorite cake! Perfect timing—I was just craving it."

Ethan smiled helplessly at her exaggerated enthusiasm. "The cake can wait. Eat your meal first."

He'd bought quite a lot—not just food and sweets but even a bottle of red wine.

Josephine took it out for a closer look—it was an expensive bottle. She couldn't help but ask in surprise, "Why did you buy this?"

"What else? To drink, of course."

Josephine pointed at herself. "For me to drink?"

Ethan pulled out two wine glasses and popped the cork. "For us to drink."

Looking at the deep red liquid swirling in the glass, she was indeed tempted.

But she wasn't a good drinker—what if she got tipsy after just a few sips?

She glanced at Ethan, and her worries immediately dissipated.

Ethan's hands paused briefly as he was tidying up the containers. After a moment, he lifted his gaze and asked, "You really want to know?"

"Yep!" She nodded firmly.

"She's… Someone you'd never guess." Ethan deliberately kept her in suspense before handing her a fork with a smile.

"Eat first. If you're really that curious, I'll tell you little by little in the future. When the time is right, you'll know."

Josephine clicked her tongue in annoyance, assuming he still didn't see her as a close friend.

She didn't press the subject and simply took the fork, starting her meal.

Perhaps, considering her low blood sugar, Ethan had bought mostly sweet food. But after a few bites, the sweetness became overwhelming.

She wasn't actually that into sweets—if she were, she wouldn't have low blood sugar in the first place.
