Chapter 183
The moment Priscilla saw Waldo, her eyes instantly turned wet.
She felt wronged, unwilling, and teary–eyed.
She asked, “Waldo, why have you refused to see me? If I hadn’t come looking for you, would you have never seen me again?”
Priscilla wiped her tears, standin
in the courtyard, glaring at him. Her face flushed, unclear whether from anger or grievance.
Waldo merely glanced at her, then walked past and headed toward the study.
Priscilla bit her lip, feeling even more aggrieved. He actually ignored her.
“Waldo!” Her tone was still aggrieved at first, but now it brimmed with anger.
Waldo entered the study and still didn’t respond to her.
Once inside, he began working.
Priscilla had no intention of following him in. She thought doing so was utterly humiliating. He hadn’t even come out to comfort her.
But after Waldo entered the study, he began working, not even sparing her a glance.
Priscilla was so angry she stomped her feet, wanting to leave, yet unwilling to give in. In the end, she stormed into the study, face full of fury.
She snapped, “Waldo! What is the meaning of this? If you hate me this much, then let’s just end this now! From now on…”
Waldo retorted, “I came back seriously injured and lay on the sickbed for three days. You didn’t come to see me. Now you expect an injured man to come
coax you?”
He looked up, his gaze shifting from the documents to her.

His eyes were much colder now. Not just cold. There was deep disappointment in them, and even doubt in Priscilla.
Priscilla was momentarily speechless, though still fuming. “I came to see you! But they wouldn’t let me in. What could I do? I care about you too!”
Waldo sighed and suddenly felt completely drained. He was tired.
Not seeing Jessica today made it clear. The rift she held toward him had never healed. She had been deliberately avoiding him.
Otherwise, she wouldn’t go out with Alivia, knowing he was still waiting for her.
In fact, her relationship with Alivia had never been that close. As far as he knew, Jessica and Alivia had never spent time together alone.
Seeing his distracted, heavy–hearted look and cold gaze, Priscilla’s anger slowly faded. It was replaced by a deep sense of grievance.
She said, “Do you think I’m so stupid, pretending to be strong while understanding nothing? I did it all for you!”
She bit her lip, tears falling down her cheeks again
But those tears stirred no pity in Waldo. In fact, they made him even more repulsed.
“Priscilla, I have work to do. Go back,” Waldo said, opening another letter.
It was just a stack of government affairs waiting for his handling.
Back when Jessica was by his side, she often helped him share the burden. Life had been much easier then.
