Chapter 197
The people from Waldo House had arrived.
When everyone turned to look, the first person they saw was Waldo, dressed in ornate riding attire.
It was said that he had previously been injured in Vrahmont Mount, but now, riding a tall steed and arriving with full presence, there was no sign of any lingering weakness. Clearly, he had fully recovered.
Before long, attention shifted to the young woman riding not far behind him.
People realized it wasn’t Priscilla. But instead, it was a woman far more stunning than Priscilla.
She, too, wore ornate riding clothes, styled similarly to Waldo’s, though with slightly less luxurious embellishment.
Riding beside her was Hughie, whose horseback archery skills were said to be among the best. He had participated in past teams as well.
Hughie’s attire was nearly identical to that of the young woman. Along with the two burly warriors riding behind them, plus Waldo, that made five, a complete team.
“That girl is competing too? Could the rumors be true?”
“What rumors?”
“That she’s…the older sister of someone…”
“Whose sister?”
“The Desert Rose.”
Whispers spread quickly among the onlookers.
Meanwhile, Monica had arrived with the carriage. After positioning it beside Yates House’s team, she quickly jumped down from the front seat and
hurried to Jessica’s side.
She said, “Ms. Yates, that’s Yuna Mcbride. I’ve seen her once before. I heard she’s even better than Hughie in horseback archery.”
Jessica’s gaze landed on Yuna.
Unexpectedly, Yuna was also looking this way. Their eyes met. Yuna nodded slightly in greeting, and Jessica responded with a smile. Then, their gazes shifted away.
Beside her, Nolan whispered, “Ms. Yates, Hughie may not be much in close combat, but his archery on horseback is truly something. We’ve seen it
ourselves.”
Jessica nodded.
Monica, however, sneered a little. “She might just be like Priscilla, claiming to be the ‘Desert Rose‘ but failing to hit even a few targets.”
Back when Waldo brought Priscilla to the barracks to demonstrate her archery, Monica had heard all about it.
Jessica replied, “This girl is different. Her eyes are sharp, her movements steady. She’s nothing like Priscilla. She might be the real deal.”
“Ms. Yates, don’t build others up too much,” Monica muttered.
“But we can’t underestimate anyone either,” Jessica said, waving the topic away. She didn’t want to discuss others anymore.
But before they could put the matter aside, people from Waldo’s side approached them.
