Hughie had always felt a certain dislike for Priscilla. If it weren’t for her, Wardo would never have been separated from Jessica.

But later, he wondered, maybe some things were just meant to be. Even without Priscilla, maybe Wardo and Jessica still woudin’t have ended up together.

Hughie said, “His Highness wants you to stay here from now on, Miss Mcbride, and focus on getting better…”

As soon as Priscilla opened her mouth, tears began to fall. “My body will never recover,” she choked out.

Priscilla thought to herself, I’m not a whole woman anymore!;

“All I want is to see Waldo,” Priscilla choked out, “to ask if he still has… just a shred of feeling for me…”

Hughie said coldly, “Since you know you’ll never recover, you must realize there can be no future with His Highness.”

He thought, ‘She still doesn’t get it? What on earth is she hoping for now?‘

Priscilla burst into tears, shaking uncontrollably. “But he promised he’d love only me for the rest of his life!”

Priscilla sobbed uncontrollably. “If he truly loves me, he shouldn’t abandon me, no matter what I’ve become! Hughie, let me see Waldo! I must see him and hear the truth from his own lips!”

Hughie wanted to refuse, but seeing her in such a broken, pitiful state, he couldn’t bring himself to say no.

What really troubled Hughie was whether Wardo still had any feelings for Priscilla. If he truly didn’t, then he wondered why he would bring her back to Waldo House.

He said, “Fine, I’ll ask His Highness again. But if he refuses to see you, don’t push your luck.”

So that day, Priscilla waited in the room for what felt like an eternity.

But no matter how long she waited, Hughie never came.

Instead, it was a physician who finally showed up.

Priscilla shrank back into the bed at the sight of the physician, her eyes blazing with defensiveness. “Don’t touch me!” she cried.

“Miss Mcbride, I’m just here to check on your body,” the physician said gently.

Priscilla’s face twisted in terror as she shrank back. “Don’t touch me! I said, don’t you dare touch me!”

The elderly maid who had accompanied the physician grew irritated at the sight of her behavior. She snapped, “Miss, you’d better cooperate so the physician can finish his job and be on his way!”

Priscilla glared at the old maid and snapped, “Who the hell do you think you are? How dare you speak to me like that!”

Priscilla glared at her, seething with indignation. After all the humiliation she had endured in the Laundry House, she never expected to be met with such disdain upon returning to Waldo House.

I’m Waldo’s woman!‘ Priscilla thought fiercely.

The old maid nearly rolled her eyes at her. “Don’t push your luck! You still think you’re that woman His Highness used to dote on?”
