Shut your mouth! Shut your mouth!Priscilla shrieked through streaming tears. Despite her weakened state, she hauled herself off the bed and lunged at the old maid, fingers clawing for the woman’s mouth.

With a cruel sneer, the old maid swung her leg and drove her foot hard into Priscilla’s stomach.

Priscilla instantly felt a searing pain explode through her abdomen. She doubled over in agony and collapsed to the floor, gasping for breath, her body too weak to even try getting up.

Priscilla had suffered the brutal punishment of female castration, her abdomen was beaten to a pulp, and she barely clung to life.

The most horrifying part was how the palace’s vicious matrons had stitched shut what symbolized her womanhood. This was the true cruelty of female castration.

Deep down, she knew she had truly become a hollow shell that merely looked human.

Physically frail and utterly drained of strength, her body and mind ravaged beyond recognition, she would have long succumbed to death if not for that obsessive hope of seeing Waldo again.

Defeated and powerless, Priscilla crumpled to the floor, wracked with heartbroken sobs.

The old maid spat, then instantly plastered on an obsequious smile for the doctor. Doctor, would you kindly check on her body? As long as she’s not dying, we can report back and be done with it.”

The doctor shot Priscilla a look of pure disgust, as if just being near her was unbearable.

He didn’t really bear any personal grudge or hatred toward her. It was just that, after what she’d been through, he simply couldn’t get over the mental hurdle of touching a woman who had undergone castration, the very thought revolted him to his core.

He thought, Disgusting! She’s tainted and cursed!

If not for Hughie forcing him to come, he would rather die than set foot in this courtyard.

Priscilla tried to refuse, but the doctor snapped furiously, I’m just checking if you’re still alive! Do you honestly think I want to touch you? Right now, no man in his right mind would even lay a finger on you!

The doctor’s words pierced Priscilla’s heart like a dagger.

Defeated, Priscilla gave up struggling and let the doctor check on her. She barely registered his muttered words.

Priscilla sat motionless on the ground for what felt like an eternity.

Time dragged on until the sky turned pitch black, midnight came and went, and not a soul remained.

At last, the door was abruptly flung open.

A sliver of moonlight pierced the darkness, and only then did Priscilla realize she hadn’t even lit a single candle in her chamber.

Even Eda Cooper, her former attendant, was nowhere to be found. The courtyard was deathly silent and empty, leaving Priscilla utterly alone.

The servants would go out of their way to avoid even passing by the Drizzle Pavilion, afraid her bad luck might rub off on them.

Even the servants delivering her meals would just dump the food at her doorstep and scurry away.

As the door opened, the person entering, accidentally kicked over the cold meal left at the threshold.

Priscilla caught the faint aroma of food. Even though it was stonecold, her starved senses still picked up the scent.
