Selma said, “Actually, Consort Adele invited Ms. Yates to the palace that day, to talk to her kindly and try to persuade her not to break the engagement. But Ms. Yates said that if Consert Adele would call Priscilla to the banquet and humiliate her, she would agree.”

“What?” Waldo was shocked. ‘So that’s why Mother has suddenly insisted on having Priscilla attend the banquet!
