When Victor stepped out of a black Maserati, I almost couldn’t believe my eyes.

Under the dazzling sunlight, his features had matured, and every movement exuded an extraordinary aura.

He handed his keys to the assistant, moving like a gust of wind that brushed past me, his gaze not even lingering on me.

I wasn’t sure if he was pretending not to know me or if he had truly forgotten me.

A few seconds later, I followed him into the elevator. He directed his assistant to get coffee, and the small space was left with just the two of us.

The door slowly closed, and Victor stretched out his long fingers, pressing the button for the top floor of the building.

Under the luxury of his wristwatch, I caught a glimpse of a very distinct scar on his wrist.

My heart skipped a beat.

Every inch of Victor was etched deeply in my mind—how could there be a scar there?

Had he been injured? What caused it? How serious was it?

“Jasmine Chambers,” he suddenly called out, startling me. His tone carried a hint of mockery.

“Did your rich husband run out of money? Came here to work now?”

I looked down at the temporary work badge around my neck, and in that moment, I snapped back to reality.

I was here because a university professor had helped me land the job.

I was tasked with painting murals—there was a lot of work, and it wasn’t easy, but if I could finish it within a month, it would pay quite well.
