The next day, I arrived early at Victor’s company to paint the mural.

But not long after I started, I received a notice about a last-minute change.

The original landscape mural, which was supposed to be 26 feet tall, needed to be changed into a portrait.

And the reference was a photo of Victor and Serena together.

The two of them were sweetly nestled together, just like countless other loving couples.

I almost forgot—nowadays, Victor was the boss here, and these decisions were obviously his.

I silently took the photo and studied the composition carefully. Then, I climbed up a few meters on the wooden ladder to paint the happiness of him and another girl.

But in my ears, I kept hearing Victor's promise from when I was eighteen. “Jasmine, when I start my business and become successful, I’ll make sure our photo is in the most prominent place in the company. You’ll be the one to paint it. How about it?”

I laughed at him back then, thinking it was strange to have a portrait in a company mural. But he said that was his way of expressing love.

“Jasmine, when you love someone, you want the whole world to know.”

Now, he had done it.

But I wasn’t the one standing by his side.

To meet the deadline, I worked late for several days straight.

I just wanted to finish the work quickly. I couldn’t bear torturing myself by constantly seeing Victor’s happiness.

"Why aren't you leaving yet?"

Victor’s cold voice came from behind me, and I jumped in surprise.
