After hanging up the phone and pondering for a while, Edric ordered John, "Spread the news that Irene is my ex-wife!"

"I can't care that much anymore. I know Irene's temper. She has such strong self-esteem, so how can she take all these criticisms? Most importantly, I am the one to be blamed as I am the one who forces her into this," Edric replied as he rubbed his eyebrows. "I deserve to be condemned by the public. My mother has to atone for all her wrongdoings in the past too. There's no escape for us two in this."

"I'm afraid that Mrs. Myers would not see eye to eye with you. If this matter is to be reported, can she accept it? She has always been holding a prejudice against Miss Nelson. I'm afraid, in the future, Miss Nelson and you..." John replied.
