The crowd suddenly scattered in panic, causing chaos everywhere.

Pearl and Luther found themselves caught in the middle. As people rushed past, they were jostled around, bumping into Luther and causing his bouquet to fall and get trampled.

Pearl snapped out of her daze and started to run with the crowd. Just then, someone grabbed her hand.

"Don't be scared. It's me."

Pearl almost pulled away, but when she recognized the voice and turned, she was surprised to see Richard.

"Why are you here?"

Richard didn't answer her question and instead pulled her away from the panicking crowd. "Don't worry. The fireworks only burst in a small area. We're safe here, and nobody will get hurt."

Hearing this, Pearl felt relieved. She was responsible for organizing the event and would have felt terrible if anyone had been injured.

But then she realized something was off and looked at him with wide eyes. "Did you cause that explosion?" Richard seemed too familiar with the details, which made her suspect he was involved.

Unfazed, Richard smirked. "Yeah, I did."

They hurried to an empty space, and when they stopped, Pearl yanked her hand away. "Are you crazy, Richard? What if something happened to you?"

Richard clung to her like a lost dog that had found its owner. Pearl didn't know what to say for a moment and just patted his back to calm him down.

"Okay. Are you feeling better now?" Pearl looked up at him, and seeing his smile—no longer looking hurt—she frowned. "You're just trying to manipulate me, aren't you?" She pushed him away.

Richard stopped his act and cleared his throat, changing the subject. "Are you okay? Did you get hurt?"

Pearl crossed her arms and glared at him. "Thanks to you, I'm fine. But why did you do it?"

Richard met her gaze and said seriously, "I did it for you."
