"Why did you do this for me?" Pearl asked, pausing for a moment, surprised by the question.

"It's because of Luther. He used the fireworks festival to propose to you. He knew you were my wife, but he still made such a big scene. I wanted him to feel bad," Richard explained calmly.

"You say I'm your wife, but Richard, you know that I—" Pearl struggled with this idea.

Deep down, she couldn't really understand Richard's true feelings. Richard was practically a stranger to her, someone who had just appeared in her life. Besides knowing his name, she felt nothing else for him.

When Richard saw her looking guilty, he walked over and gently took her hand. "I know you've lost your memories, and I've never wanted to push you about how you feel. But I still hope you can understand how much I care about you. Pearl, I've been waiting for you for five years. I haven't given up on our love. So, I hope you won't give up easily either, okay?"

This left Pearl without excuses to deny that love.

She nodded slowly, finally certain. She wanted to test the waters. "I'd like to try, whether it's because of your loyalty or... I'm willing to try and remember you."

At that moment, his ears turned red, stirring up random memories for her. Without thinking, she stood on tiptoes and gently kissed his cheek as the fireworks died down.

Richard pulled her into a hug and said with a rough voice, "You made the first move."

"Luther, I need to tell you that I will never marry you. Please accept this," she said firmly. She then smiled, trying to ease the tension.

"Why not?" Luther asked, rubbing his bracelet with a smirk.

Pearl's heart raced seeing this. Having known Luther for over four years, she recognized what this gesture meant. He was angry.

"It's because she's my wife," Richard interjected.
