Richard closed his eyes and went quiet.

"Also, Darius is really worried about you."

Richard nodded and opened his eyes, feeling moved. "Can you bring Darius to see me tomorrow morning?"

Pearl was shocked. "Ugh... he's quite loud. What if he disturbs your rest?"

"It's fine. I just want to see him. Plus, he's usually so well-behaved. He won't make noise."

"Why don't we wait a few more days? Just rest well. Then, I…"

Richard looked at her seriously, his expression hard to read. "So, you still don't want to tell me what's really going on, right?"

Pearl didn't know what to say. She realized that Richard had always been clever. He figured it out so quickly.

"What's wrong with Darius?"

Pearl didn't answer.

Richard suddenly started coughing a lot, looking upset. "Where is he now?"

Pearl felt she had no choice but to tell him the truth. "When I was waiting outside the operating room for your news this afternoon, Darius went missing."

Richard felt a chill. "Missing?"

"Yes, I'm not sure who did it yet. But from what I found out this afternoon, someone definitely kidnapped him."

"How dare they kidnap my son! They're looking for trouble!" He began to cough hard before he could say much more.

She looked at her phone and saw a familiar name. She hesitated about whether to answer it.

Richard glanced at it. "Just answer it."

Finally, Pearl answered.

"Are you free, Pearl? I'd like to ask you out."

Pearl was surprised because Luther had never asked her out so late. "Isn't it too late now?" She didn't want to go since she didn't know what Luther was planning.

"I think it's okay. It's not that late. Plus, I have some information you might want to know."

Pearl gripped her phone tighter at his words. "What do you mean?"

"Nothing much. Just wondering if you want to meet or not. Forget it if you don't."
