When Luther heard Simon's name, his face changed instantly.

Pearl sensed something was wrong and asked, "We were both in the lab, but you only rescued me. Where's Simon? Where did you hide him?"

"I really don't know anything about where he is."

"Stop acting. We were right next to each other, so if you rescued me, you must have seen him." Pearl stared at him, then accused, "You're lying!"

Luther's face stiffened. "I'm not lying. I truly don't know where he is."

"Why won't you just tell me the truth?"

"I don't understand what you mean by 'the truth'."

"Luther Crawford!"

Seeing Pearl's growing anger, Luther couldn't help but smile. "Why are you so concerned about someone else right now? Have you forgotten about your son?"

The mention of Darius was another painful reminder for Pearl.

"I don't understand why you're doing this, but if you want something from me, just say it." Pearl's tone was icy. "At least tell me why you took Darius!"

Noticing the surveillance cameras on the rooftop, Luther smirked and asked, "Did Richard visit your place last night?"

"What if he did?"

Pearl, still feeling the sting in her hand, replied coldly, "Can you wake up from this delusion?"

"Wake up?" Luther flexed his wrists. He didn't care that she was a woman and grabbed her neck. "Why would you think I'm not awake?"

Luther's grip was strong, and Pearl struggled to breathe but still managed to glare back at him.

"I told you I loved you, even proposed publicly. You rejected me and went back to him. I've given you many chances, and you've wasted all of them."

Pearl managed a forced smile. "Even if Richard didn't exist, I would never fall for you or marry you."

Luther's eyes filled with rage and his grip tightened. "What are you saying? Don't you want to see your son anymore?"
