Darius meant everything to Pearl, so her eyes filled with tears when his name came up.

"What must I do for you to release him?"

Noticing Pearl's softer tone, Luther relaxed his hold, and she took deep breaths. "I'm pleased you're starting to see sense," he said.

Pearl had been unable to breathe properly and started coughing. After a while, her face lost its red flush. "What do you want from me?"

"Two things," Luther demanded. "First, you must cut all ties with Richard and never return to him. Second, marry me right away and stay by my side. You're not allowed to go anywhere."

Pearl laughed at his absurd demands. "I am a person, not your slave or accessory. How can you expect me to just stay by your side?"

Luther licked the corner of his lips and smiled cruelly. "Those are my conditions. It's your choice to accept or reject them, but you have no room to negotiate."

Pearl was quiet for a moment. She knew Luther seemed confident he would get his way and wouldn't stop until he did. She worried about what he might do if she said no, especially since he was holding Darius.

"So, if I agree, you'll let Darius go?"

Luther raised his eyebrows. "Yes, I'll release him."

"Second, let me look after Richard until he leaves the hospital. After that, I'll stop talking to him."

Luther frowned. "Why do you need to look after him? I don't like you two spending time together."

"He saved Darius from the accident, so it's the least I can do."

Luther smirked. "Don't play games with me, Pearl. Richard is Darius's father, so it's his duty to save him. You owe him nothing."
