Chapter 241 novel Your Love Is But a Dream (Clara and Wren)

"I really didn't take you for someone this ambitious. So, your grand plan is to get half my fortune through divorce? That's your angle?" Carlisle scoffed, slamming the document onto the table.

"Ridiculous!"

Katrina didn't react to his outburst. Instead, she remained calm, her gaze steady as she picked up the divorce agreement and flipped to the last page.

Her fingertip tapped lightly on the signature line meant for Carlisle. "I've already signed. Now, it's your turn."

The divorce would be finalized as long as he put his name on that line. And she would finally be free from this prison called the Zachman family.

"You want me to sign this?" Carlisle swatted her hand away. The papers slipped from her grasp, fluttering to the floor like scattered leaves.

His glare was filled with anger and disappointment as he laughed coldly. "Not happening. I'm not signing this, and you're not getting a single cent from me!"

Katrina watched his furious expression in silence. Then, unexpectedly, she laughed.

Carlisle's expression darkened, his brows knitting together. "What the hell are you laughing at?"

"I'm laughing at how heartless you are and at myself for not seeing it sooner." Her laughter carried a trace of bitterness, and a shimmer of tears welled in her eyes.

"The moment I realized you didn't love me, I should have left. But instead, I stayed… until now."

She wiped her tears away and met his gaze. "You don't need to get so worked up. I'm your legal wife. Half of your assets rightfully belong to me. And let's not forget that you're the one at fault here.

"I put up with this for years. Consider this my compensation. Am I not entitled to it?"

All these years in the business world had long since stripped away the naive pride and blind dignity she once held.

Katrina was no longer that woman.

She had no backing now, with no powerful family to rely on. If she walked away from the Zachman family empty-handed just for the sake of protecting her dignity, that would be true stupidity.
