ALEXANDER

Linda had kept her mouth shut throughout the entire ride. She had been looking out the window, as if she sees something out there.

My brows furrowed, confused.

Doomsayers are not even supposed to exist anymore. From what I've heard, wolves of her kind had been burned alive. They were perceived as nothing more than bad omen to the pack. My father told me this.

I grunted, deciding not to dwell on the matter any more than I should.

I need to focus.

She needs me, at least that's what I've wanted to believe.

I kept my gaze glued to the road in front of me. About an hour and a half later, I stepped on the brake.

Linda gripped the door handle as the car came to an abrupt stop.

"Get out." I order her.

She glanced at me nervously then quickly opened the door, hopping out of the car the same time I did. I sauntered around the front where Linda stood, her body shaking visibly all over.

"Shift!" I mindlinked her. We need to get to the border as soon as we can.

I watched as she hesitantly shifted into her wolf. Seconds passed and she's starting to wear out my patience. Shooting her a deathly glare, I let out a low growl that reverberated through the forest. I could feel the ground quake beneath me and the birds dart to the sky, frightened at the sound which shook the earth for a brief moment.

She flinched back and glanced up at me with fear in her colorless, grey eyes. Almost immediately, she crouched down the ground and screamed as she summoned her wolf. I've only seen her wolf once, when I saved her when she was sixteen years old. I remember it was that old, fat man whom her father sold her to, and from that day on, she refused to speak. Her eyes had been injected with wolfsbane, and when I arrived there, it was too late.

I was then pulled out of my thoughts when Linda heaved out a heavy sigh.

The next moment, her bones started to snap. Slowly, her body began to take the form of a wolf.

It was a magnificent grey wolf with white spots on her back, tail, and legs.

A rare color for a wolf, I thought.

Other than that, she was slightly bigger than I remember.

I tilted my head when I notice Linda's watchful eyes observing me. Tearing my eyes of her, I cleared my throat and lurched myself forward. Shifting mid-air into my black and white wholf.

Unlike most alphas who have pure, nightshade black wolf, mine was a combination of my parent's. I glanced back at Linda who stood still right behind me.

'Follow me,' I ordered before taking off into the forest.

We ran further into the woods, not stopping until we've finally reached the border of my territory and that of the Dark Moon Pack's.

As soon as we got there, I saw Elijah and Veronyka arguing in the middle of the forest. Again.

Elijah's huge, brown wolf looked down intimidatingly at Veronyka who glared right back at him with determination flashing in her eyes.

Both of them then snapped their eyes at me the exact moment I stopped at the gap between them.

'Why are you here, Vera?' I mindink.

'I want to come.' She says firmly, turning towards me. There's a hint of worry in her eyes that I haven't seen before since she saw my mate for the first time.

'Why would you? You said you hated humans' I reply, lifting my chin while I stared down at her in a bid to be intimidate her for once.

'And I still do!' She declares, looking at me straight in the eye when I heard her speak again.
