He also rugged tactical trousers with reinforced knees paired with high-grade military. Completing his ensemble was a wristwatch built for endurance.

"What are you two doing here?" I asked, my gaze flicking between two of them. "Didn't we agree yesterday that Froste would accompany me?"

Askhan's mood did a complete flip. "I'm going to inspect the borders. As royal prince of the kingdom, it is my duty to do that."

I turned to Haelor. "And you?"

Haelor had an unapologetic look on his face. "I'm the general. Travelling to the border shouldn't be something that requires the basis of your journey for me."

I simply hummed, eyeing the both of them carefully. Those were all just excuses. Deep down, I know why they were really here. They wanted to follow me on the journey to the border and I knew they wouldn't take no for an answer.

Arthur had a cheeky smile on his face as he watched us. "Well Giselle, this trip might be more fun with both of them deciding to tag along."

"You're just saying that." I resisted the urge to roll my eyes.

"And—" He paused, a knowing look in his eyes. It was hard to miss the amusement that swarm in them.

I wanted to tear my hair out. Arthur's coy act wasn't half as amusing as he probably thought it was. There was a look in his eyes, like he wanted me to guess what he was hinting at.

"With two them around," I started carefully. "There won't be any suspicious eyes on us. No one would realize we're there since both the royal prince and the general are there. It's brilliant."

Arthur nodded, a look of pride in his eyes. "Nicely done, Giselle. You're a quick thinker. I like that."

"Thank you, teacher." I beamed, unable to hold back the smile on my face.

"Now there's one more issue to settle." Arthur's mood had changed.

I leaned my head to the side. "What's that?"

"Froste." He simply answered.

"Well what about him?"

"His presence in our party makes the least sense," Arthur explained. "How do we explain why an instructor of the Royal Academy is following us?"

He was right. Thing would be more discreet if we decided to go ourselves. But with Froste coming along, it would be harder to blend in.

"What's in there?" I asked.

"Oh this?" He raised the briefcase ever so slightly. "It was given to me by the Alpha King."

Now I was intrigued. "Really?"

He nodded. "It contains the power of attorney. The king entrusted me with going to the border to collect experimental materials."

I silently nodding, taking in his words. It meant he had every right to be a part of this trip without anyone doubting the relevance of his presence here.

Froste turned to the group. "Does that make sense now?"

Askhan's mood seemed to have soured. He clicked his tongue, turning away from Froste. Arthur let out a small whistle.

"Okay then. It seems your place in this party has been solidified." Haelor noted, his face devoid of any emotion.

Froste sent him a curt nod, not quite saying anything in reply.
