“No. No. No.”

I looked around for any possible way of escaping but there was none. Before I could think of running, Jack grabbed me by the hair and pulled me to the ground.

I let out a groan of pain. He didn’t waste any time and kicked me hard in the stomach. For a second, it felt like I couldn’t breathe. Then his friends continued, all of them kicking me and hitting me with whatever they could find.

“Useless mutt.”

“She doesn’t even have a wolf yet.”

“Pathetic.”

I closed my eyes, trying to block out all their hateful words but it wasn’t working. All I could do was lay there, and wait until they were tired.

The tears were already sliding down my cheeks as I cried in silence. Eventually, they got tired and left. Jack made a show of spitting on me before he ran off.

It wasn’t the first time they were bullying me and I knew it wasn’t going to be their last. I was being punished for the crime of simply existing.

I would never forget all the pain I endured back at the orphanage. Olavir had been watching me and must have noticed my silence.

“Is something wrong?” he asked, a look of worry on his face.

I shook my head, forcing a smile to my lips. “Nothing. Just…remembering the years I spent at the orphanage.”

He nodded his head. “How was your life then?”

“It was…okay. I don’t know which one I miss more between routine life and getting to live among people that were just like me. You get the feeling right? Finally finding a place you could call home. Life was okay.”

Olavir nodded his head as he listened to me. I hadn’t told him about all the torture and abuse I’d endured at the hands of my bullies.

“You must really miss the staff and your friends.” He sighed. “We should go there some day.”

I forced a smile on my face, not quite giving him a reply. I’d rather not have to go back there ever again.

“In the flesh.” He smiled, wrapping his arms around me as he pulled me into a hug. I hugged him back, unable to believe this was actually him.

Prince Askhan was the highest prince in the entire national prestige. He had a hoard of countless female fans that would feint if he were to even just breathe a word to them.

He was actually here to see me. I couldn’t help the excitement that bubbled in me. Calm down. I had to stay calm.

He pulled away from me eventually, the smile never leaving his face. “I can’t believe you’re actually back. You have no idea how much I missed you.”

He reached into his pocket and pulled out a small box. I couldn’t help the small gasp that left my lips as he opened the box.

It was a moon shaped necklace. I’d never seen something so beautiful before. He took the necklace and closed the distance between us.

“May I?” He asked, his eyes staring deep into mine.

I nodded my head, unable to think of any words to say. He leaned closer to me, clasping the necklace around my neck.
