Tina’s gaze fleeted to the book I was reading. Her frown deepened when she realized it was the book required for the selection.

“I saw the official examination registration form requirements,” she started. “Which requires the participation of the she-wolf.”

She slowly began to pace around me, her gaze pining me to the chair I was sitting in. “The requirements are very strict you know. It’s very difficult to pass the conditions. I doubt you’d be able to do so.”

I shut the book, glaring at her. “If you have nothing better to say, then I’d suggest you leave.”

Tina scoffed. “Are you joking? I’m literally the daughter of the second richest family in the pack. If anyone stands a chance of meeting those requirements between us, it’s definitely me.”

“Oh yeah?” I stood up so we’d be on the same eye level. “Well I’ve already registered.”

I smirked at the look of surprise on Tina’s face. She probably hadn’t expected me to successfully register. After all, I didn’t have a noble title yet.

What they didn’t know was that Askhan had already taken me to the place of registration last night.

Flashback.

“Sir, if you’d please just try to understand—”

“I’m not asking you to do it for me,” Askhan growled. “I’m demanding that you do it now.”

“Askhan.” I sighed, but he was barely paying any attention to me. His focus was on the staff who was cowering in fear.

He was trying to get them to open a green channel for me since he knew I didn’t meet the requirements for registration.

I needed a noble title but it was taking a lot of time before it would be valid. It was proving to be more time consuming than Askhan had thought and the alpha prince had a nasty temper that wasn’t to be messed with.

“Askhan.” I walked up to his side. “The requirements have been set up to filter the right people. It’s not right for me to just do this.”

He looked at me, the frustration evident on his face. “There has to be something we can do.”

“Let’s just go.” I turned to the staff, an apologetic smile on my face. “We’re sorry for the stress.”

With that, I beckoned on Askhan for us to leave. He reluctantly agreed and let me lead him out of the centre.

Just as we reached the door, a voice called out to us. “Wait!”

We turned to see a female officer making her way towards us. She nodded her head at Askhan in respect before turning to me.

Tina’s face went as red as a tomato. She was seething with anger as she turned to Cyrene. “Why didn’t you tell me?”

Cyrene tried to defend herself. “I swear to you, I had absolutely no clue. I do—”

“Shut the fuck up, you halfwit.” She stepped closer to Cyrene, her eyes burning with anger. “You made a fool out of me.”

“I didn’t mean for this to happen.” Cyrene cried. “I swear it.”

“You are dead.” Tina whispered, her tone dripping with venom.

I shook my head, laughing at the whole drama. My gaze was fixed on Cyrene who had fat tears dropping down her face.

“I knew you were stupid but I didn’t think it was to this extent. You’ve been working as a maid for Tina all this time. No family would even love you. You’re nothing but a joke.”

Cyrene’s whole resolved seemed to shatter. She turned away, tears dropping down her face as she hurried after Tina.

I shook my head and turned back to my book. I had something else to focus on. I wasn’t about to let anyone get in the way of it.
