I tried to block out most of their words. This was a day that would mark another step towards my goal. I couldn’t let that words get to me. Not now.
Just then, a scream from the crowd seemed to pierce the air. I turned to Askhan, whose face seemed to have soured.
“What’s wrong?” I asked.
“It’s Alan. He’s here.” Askhan answered reluctantly.
“Alan?” I blinked in confusion. “Who’s that?”
“He’s the royal principal dancer.” Askhan explained. “Not to mention, he is a well-known dance artist.”
“So why aren’t you happy to see him then?” I asked, unable to wrap my head around why he seemed so moody all of a sudden.
Before he could reply, Alan was already making his way towards us. His hair was swept to the side neatly and he was dressed to kill.
He stopped in front of me. Alan’s gaze flickered to Askhan momentarily. Something I didn’t quite understand seemed to pass through them.
He turned back to me. Before I could say anything, he bent down slightly. His eye rose up to meet mine.
“I’m sorry my little princess. It seems I’m late, but that doesn’t matter now. May I invite you to a dance?”
I could barely hear anything from the jealous voices of other young girls, vying for Alan’s attention.
Things had just gotten even more interesting.
Alan? He was really asking me to a dance? My mind was racing as I struggled to come to terms with everything.
I let out a breath I didn’t know I’d been holding and put out my hand blankly. He gently took my hand and brought the back of it to his lips, placing a small kiss on it.
The spot he’d kissed felt warm and it was hard to hold back the blush that made its way to my cheeks.
“Shall we?” He asked, a small smile on his face.
I nodded, letting him lead me to the dance floor. He gently holds on to my waist and wraps his hand around mine as we danced to the music.
“I can’t believe I’ve finally gotten to see you. It’s been ages.” Alan said, a small look of sadness in his eyes.
Alan shrugged, shaking his head as he continued glaring at Askhan. “You’ve always been the meanest person since you were a kid.”
Askhan looked even more pissed. I knew this would escalate if I didn’t step in. There were people watching and I couldn’t possibly let this turn into a fight.
I made my way to Askhan and placed a hand on his chest, stopping him from blowing up.
“What is wrong with the both of you?” I looked at both of them, my voice firm and strict.
“Don’t you realize you’re in public. Of all the times to fight each other, you picked now.”
Askhan looked like he was sulking as he glared at his feet. I found it funny how he wouldn’t even meet my eyes.
Alan had a similar disgruntled look in his eyes. “Well he started it.”
“Hey!” Askhan growled.
“That’s enough!” I put my hand out to both of them, making them both shut up. Obviously, I had to get them away from each other else, they’d just end up arguing again.
