Of the Internet stories I have ever read, perhaps the most impressive one is Atrophy of Love: Mr. Harris, Stop Fooling Around!. The story is too good, leaving me with many doubts. Currently, the manga has been translated to Chapter 11 Everything I Say Will Be Futile. Let's read the author's Atrophy of Love: Mr. Harris, Stop Fooling Around! Internet story right here.
“You’re responsible.” Marie looked at her and curled her red lips. “There are about 100 to 200 employees in Dream Club. If arguments like this keep happening, it’ll be best if we just stop operating. Why don’t you work in the cleaning department from now on? You’re not needed to welcome the guests anymore. The company will make new arrangements for your accommodation. You won’t argue so much if you don’t see each other that much, am I right?”
After she said that, Marie looked at Sophia to see her reaction. After all, welcoming the guests was a job for young ladies. Basically, only middle-aged women who got laid off would work in the cleaning department. It was a dirty, tiring, and exhausting job.
Unfortunately, Sophia’s expression did not change. She only grunted a reply and did not say anything. Marie was slightly disappointed. She lifted her eyebrows and asked, “Don’t you have anything to say?”
Sophia shook her head. “For me, as long as the job pays me, there’s not much difference. Plus, Mr. Harris said that everything I say will be futile. Why should I make him unhappy?”
Marie started to be impressed by her. She started laughing carefreely. “Since you have no opinions on this matter, then go report yourself after you pack.”
“Okay, thank you, Marie.”
After she watched Sophia go back to her dorm, Marie pondered for a while in the corridor. Eventually, she took out her phone and made a call.
The call went through immediately. “Yeah? What’s wrong?”
“I transferred her to the cleaning department as per your wish.”
Charles was reading through his documents while listening to Marie. His hand that was flipping the pages stopped mid-air, and he asked in a low voice, “What was her reaction?”
“She did not make a fuss. She accepted it calmly.”
“Really?” He frowned and rubbed his hurting temples. He said, “If that’s the case, give her some appropriate work. She’s considered young in the cleaning department. It’s only right and proper for her to do more work.”
Marie hesitated slightly. “Mr. Harris, aren’t you being a bit cruel? She’s just a young lady…”
Charles did not say anything, but Marie realized that she was talking too much without needing to be told. She felt her heart tighten. She changed the topic. “Right, the young master of Qingfeng Estate is coming over for his birthday party next Monday. Will you be here?”
“Yeah.”
