Badboy Ace novel Chapter 15

Ryn's pov

The noisy sound of a lawn mower could be heard clearly as I reached near my house. I slowed down until I came to a stop before the closed gates.

The sight of Ace with black jeans and still shirtless welcomed me. I was utterly confused as I watched him mow the lawn and wave at a blushing Mrs. Smith who was in her balcony staring at Ace.

I stepped down from the motorcycle watching Ace's ripped muscles tighten as he pushed the mower forward. None noticed me as I opened the gate and entered. Mrs. Smith's head soon snapped towards me because of the creaking sound the gate made when it closed.

She beamed at me and waved which I returned with one of my own. I walked up the stairs so I could greet her properly. She was such a sweet eighty year old woman and I was happy that I had gotten her as a landlord.

She was seated on a soft flowery sofa that overlooked the outside. This is where she would sit everyday staring at nothing in particular. I always tried to give her and her husband some company.

"Afternoon Mrs. Smith!" I greeted her and pulled her into a warm embrace. She gave out a cherry laugh as she squeezed me into the hug.

"Good afternoon dear, how are you so early?" She asked when she finally let me out of the hug. I smiled sadly and looked down at Ace who was currently throwing water on his face. Damn.

I cleared my throat as I moved my heated eyes away from his body and faced Mrs. Smith. "I was suspended today." I revealed emotionless. She gasped audibly.

"But how come?" She stuttered. I groaned inwardly embarrassed that I'd have to tell her led up to being suspended.

"Well uh one of my comrades and I got into an altercation. Captain wasn't pleased when he saw that I was beating the guy up." I respond. But when was that asshole not never pleased with me?

"Oh Ryn you need to stop beating every guy up! How else will I see your little kids before I die?" Mrs. Smith asked. I blushed at her words. Having children was the last thing on my mind.

"I'm not ready for anything like that Marlie!" I stuttered.

"Oh stop it Ryn, that nice fellow over there will surely give you at least five children. Especially with the way he's looking, I'm sure y'all are already practicing." She teased and pointed at Ace. He had just finished mowing the lawn and was walking towards us in slow deliberate steps.

I shook my head fiercely and the blush I was spotting deepened. "No it's not like that, we're not even friends, he just needed a place to stay for the while and I agreed to let him stay." I rushed out looking anywhere but at the approaching Ace.

"Oh so y'all are just sleeping together?" Marlie asked suspiciously. I choked on the saliva I was gulping down and remained mute when Ace reached beside us. His face was set in his usually cocky manner and I blushed as I remembered what Marlie had just uttered.

"Officer Waters," Ace nodded towards me and turned to give Marlie a radiant smile. I was jealous that she received it and not me. Oh my god I'm jealous because Ace smiled at Marlie who's three times his age. My thoughts were now a jumbled mess.

"Thanks Marlie for borrowing me the mower, hope I did a good job on your land." He stated earning a delighted giggle from Marlie. They were on first name basis already? How long was I gone?

"Of course Ace! You're such a sweet fellow for doing this, my husband will be pleased, Thank you!" She beamed.
