Trevor's heart frosted over when he thought back to every time Victoria fell sick and how she looked being with a frail Anthony. He thought she'd come to realize his love for her after going through so much and treat their marriage seriously. However, his sudden minor illness got him inexplicably despondent. An unprecedented thought of giving up was silently budding within him.

Maybe there was nothing he could do to make up for their imperfect encounter. If he was still incomparable to that b*stard to her today, should he really let her go and move on?

What was the point of him pouring his heart and soul into the marriage when his wife thought nothing of him?

Having absolutely no idea Trevor's mindset had done a one-eighty, Victoria brooded over what she should bring over after going home while warming some milk for him. As things happened too suddenly, she had the butler bring some breakfast over. She thought she'd still have to cook him something when she had the time; it was her thought no matter what.

As he continued to ignore her, she piped down after mumbling to herself. After she was done busying, she stayed by his side quietly and watched the nurse give him his medication, asking a thing or two when they told him to take note of some things.

A while later, Trevor’s phone rang, and Victoria conscientiously went out to stroll in the hallway. By the time she came back, he was nodding off while taking his IV drip. With that, she quietly rested her head on the edge of his bed.

The silent morning quietly slipped away, and Victoria began doing her only job at noon, feeding him. Like that morning, the inexplicably strange feeling and gaze enveloped her once again. Seeing that he still wouldn't utter a word when she was done clearing the table, she tidied up the notes and charged his phone before slumping down aside.

"Hubby, how are you doing lying down? Do you want to stroll around?"

No response!

"Is there anything you want me to do for you, Hubby?"

She was talking to the air!

She exhaled a murky breath before trying again. "Hubby, what would you like for dinner? How about fish chowder?"

But before she could finish her words, somebody shut his eyes as a response.

Having been flagrantly despised, she knew she had been snubbed again, feeling disconsolate, surprised that he would be so upset this time!

She felt very uncomfortable right then! She kept her mouth open for a long time but never said anything as she had never comforted a man so shamelessly. With that, she got up and tucked him in before moving wearily toward the couch.

Winter afternoons were so warm that they always had people feeling sleepy. Victoria shot up from her nap to hear slow, steady breathing coming from the bed.

Had he fallen asleep?

After rubbing her eyes, she jogged to the bed and tucked him in again.

It was great that he had fallen asleep; he wouldn't look at her with strange gazes, nor would she need to strain her mind to talk to him when he had fallen asleep. What was more, the doctor said he had signs of burnout. He was worn out and needed rest!

"C'mon, I didn't do anything. Petty..."

After mumbling by the bed, something came to her, and she fished a sticky note out to leave a memo for him before quickly leaving the ward.

Thinking that he wouldn't be waking up so soon, she took a trip home to pack his everyday clothes and daily necessities and even made some soup for him, more soup than ingredients, really, thinking it'd be perfect for his current diet. She later even made some madeleine, using them to please him during afternoon tea.

With that, she rushed to get everything done, hoping to hurry back to the hospital late afternoon.

Meanwhile, Selena had already arrived at the hospital with some soup, seeing the memo with cute handwriting on the bedside table the moment she entered Trevor's ward.

"I didn't run away, Hubby. Don't get upset! Went home to get your clothes; BRB! =)"

Selena's face darkened, dumbstruck. That woman had been here?

Trevor said he was fine the day before and would leave the hospital immediately, and that woman clearly hadn't a clue. But how had he not only stayed, but she had even come in a blink of an eye?

Inexplicably frustrated, Selena thought she had missed the world. If she hadn't remembered to check up on him, she would never have known he was still admitted, and his illness had even worsened!

Sh*t!

She should have come sooner! She was so close; had things returned to square one once again?

Just as she was deep in thought, rustling noises came from the bed, and she reflexively grabbed the sticky note, crumpling it up into a ball.

Opening his eyes lazily to find a silhouette right in front of him, Trevor shot right up. "Selena? What are you doing here?"

An indescribable expression laced his face as he subconsciously swept his gaze across the room, musing, "She's not here?"

Capturing the panic and disappointment that flashed across his eyes, her sharp nails dug into her palm, feeling as though there was a viper within her constantly sticking its tongue out as she took in his subtle abnormality.

What was he worried about?

Did he have to be so afraid of that woman meeting her?
