Somehow, Frederick still felt that something was off.

Knowing his identity and status, there were just too many people who wanted to have some sort of relationship with him. They would do anything to get close to him, and Alicia understood that well.

However, she would never eavesdrop on most of his things, especially those that involved his work unless he talked about it himself. Alicia knew that they were a couple, but she also understood that they were still individual beings. She allowed them to have their own personal space. Not only was it because she had her limits and didn't want to be overbearing, more importantly, she wanted to leave some mystery between them. Being too transparent with each other might make them lose attraction to each other.

She wouldn't ask further if he didn't want to say anything. She just held his arm, tilted her head, and said,

"Should I come up with more plans to help you out with your social relations? We can't let others to surpass you in that way! Hubby, will it help if I dance with you?"

Alicia answered herself before Frederick could even reply to her, "I think that'll work! Let me dance with you! This will be one for the books!"

Frederick pinched her face and couldn't help but say, "You're talking nonsense again!"

She just wanted to have a dance with him but she wouldn't say it directly, instead she made it as if she was doing him a big favor! She was indeed one of a kind!

He took her hand and brought her to the dance floor. His arms encircled her waist and his gaze was overflowing with love for her.

At the same time, at a mansion in the city. Jeremy came back with his luggage and a fragrant smell of freshly cooked food filled his senses.

"Jeremy, you're back? You must be tired. I've prepared the hot water! Hurry up and change before you rest!"

"I've made some ravioli. I'm just waiting for you to come back to cook them!"

Lindsay took Jeremy's luggage and brought it to the side. Then, she turned around to get him a glass of hot water. However, Jeremy did not accept the water even after a long time. The atmosphere was so awkward it almost froze.

Lindsay gave a dry smile and slowly retracted her hand. She bit her lip and said, "I don't mean anything else. I just want to do something for you to repay the favor! I know others say I'm a sly and evil woman and what I am experiencing now is what I deserve! However, ever since I was abandoned, abused, and humiliated... I knew that I could never be nice anymore! I must be evil and strong! Only then, I can survive and my sister can be protected!"

Lindsey sighed and continued,

"Perhaps you don't believe me! My adoptive father... After he did those horrible things to me, he attempted to do the same to his biological daughter! If I hadn't released my sister, she would've been in a much worse condition. She was only 14 then! It was at that moment I understood that a man could be that horrendous. Before I met you, I never believed in any men, nor did I believe in love! Jeremy, although I have lied to you before, I have never hurt you! Every single person who I have taken revenge against were all who had hurt or tried to hurt me! What else could I have done as a woman; a child who had a weak younger sister? Don't think of me like that! Why would I ever want to walk on thin ice all the time if I had the option to live on dignifiedly?"

Lindsey sighed and put down the glass. She took the bag from the side and said pitifully,

"Thank you for helping me out at my lowest point! Even if I'm not a good person, I still know how to be grateful! Although I hate that family, I still have a pretty decent sister! If you were in my position, being abused and humiliated in this nightmare for so many years, perhaps you would be even more cruel than me! Jeremy, I don't expect you to understand and accept me. However, I beg you, please don't hate me. I don't want to live in the dark either. You're all I have now!"

Lindsey said as her eyes welled with tears. She lowered her head and moved to the side. Then, Jeremy held her wrist.

"Didn't you... make ravioli? I'm hungry too!"
