SIXTY-EIGHT
M I R A N D A
Ben was now stabilized and he was sleeping peacefully on top of his hospital bed. It almost gave me a heart attack when I saw Ben having trouble breathing a while ago and maybe because I knew he has asthma plus his TBI would definitely make it worse.
Louis hasn't left Ben's side and he hasn't talked to me since we got here, even though he keeps holding me tight around his arms. I know he's still bothered about what happened.
I grabbed a chair and sat next to Louis. He smiles at me ruefully as I placed my head over his shoulder. "The doctor said Ben's fine." I say.
I hear him sighing heavily.
"It's because of me." Louis blames himself.
"It's not." I tried to get his mind off of it.
I know he was blaming himself but I wouldn't want him to. That was an accident and I was careless enough to forget that Ben had TBI.
"Dosa is made of wheat like bread and will become sticky and clumpy when mixed with liquids making it even harder to expel. That's what choked Ben." Louis explains to me.
I can't believe he's been thinking about those.
"Hey." I held his chin and moved his head towards me. "It's not your fault." I tell him.
He looks at me apologetically and I feel terrible that he feels like that. "I don't want you to think that it's because of you." I say.
"It is because of me, Miranda." He insisted.
"It's not." I snapped.
He got quiet for a second and just looked at me.
"Okay? It was an accident. And I'm not blaming you for what happened." I said.
I quickly laced my arms around him and he held his arm around my back. I rested my head on his chest while he rubs my arm.
"Ben's okay now. That's all that matters." I say.
I hear Louis sighing. "You're right. Thank god he's fine." He says.
I nodded.
"Have you told Harry about what happened?" He asked me.
I got quiet for a while.
"Love?" He calls out.
I sigh inwardly. "No. I don't think he has time. He's busy with his new son Alex."
"But he still has the right to know. He's Ben's father." Louis said softly.
Louis didn't talk for a while and so did I. I think we're both sensitive when the topic we are talking about is related to Harry. It gets awkward when we talk about him and we need a lot of getting used to when we bring him up.
"Don't worry." I finally hear Louis talk again.
I slightly move my head up to him. "I'll be here for Ben anyways." He adds.
I smiled. "Thank you."
The following morning Ben was finally allowed to get discharged from the hospital. We drove back home and Ben was being his self again. I still haven't told Harry about what happened though. It won't make a big deal anyways.
The next days were full of wedding preparations and wedding practices. We had a few trips on the wedding cake designers, the wedding coordinator then a few visits on the venues for the wedding and the hotel for the reception. We'd visit the wedding gown designers' boutique and do wedding gown fitting for the other guests that were including on the wedding entourage.
Perrie and Sophia unexpectedly arrived and did helped me around which made everything much easier. I even had much fun with them around, we planned about a bachelorette party then we bought a few sexy outfits to were for that night and they would play with Ben when we'd bring him with us while we're on shopping.
I may have lost Beth and Nina but I gained greater friends like Perrie and Sophia.
There were only two weeks left before the wedding and to be truthfully honest, I still haven't found the perfect wedding gown to wear.
Talk about panicking!
As I was lying on top of my bed, listening to some piano pieces of Beethoven while reading a book, I noticed that louis hasn't came home yet.
It's already eight in the evening and I'm curious of where he is right now.
Ben's fast asleep in his room and I've been reading this English novel that Louis bought for me three days ago. But I'm still wondering where Louis is. He hasn't texted me for an hour now and the last message I received from him is that he was coming home soon.
I wonder how long is that soon gonna take when it's already one hour since he texted it.
I think this pregnancy is making me always want to see Louis being around here at home. I always want to see him and when he's not around I always miss him. I always fight him when he doesn't get the right foods or I'd make him but foods that isn't found here at home I feel sorry though but he says he understands and wants to give me everything I want.
There was one time when I was craving for this certain bread that closes only until midnight and I was craving for it around three in the morning which was very unusual. When Louis got there, it was obviously closed and know what he did? He called up the owner's number, woke him up and paid him money just to make the bread for me around three in the freaking morning.
But there are times when it gets absurd and sometimes, I mean mostly, I get mad at Louis over some little things even on nothing and I'm happy that he doesn't get mad at my crazily changing mood swings. The sweetest he'd do is that by the end of every night, he'd always make sure that him and I are fine after fighting for the day then we'd cuddle our way to sleep.
I've learned to realize that I am really ready to marry this man who put up so much for me. I am ready to say my I Do to Louis. I'm ready to become Mrs. Tomlinson. I'm ready to be his wife and live my life with him. With Louis.
My phone vibrates and lights up next to me. I quickly grabbed it and I knew it was Louis.
It's from Harry.
When I seem to have forgotten about this person since he hasn't contacted me for a long while, here he comes again showing out of nowhere.
I think my heart stopped beating for a second when I saw his name on my screen.
Harry: Hi. How have you and Ben been?
Oh he talks about how me and his son Ben is doing? I rolled my eyes at my phone.
Me: Great.
Harry: That's good. I'm really sorry I haven't kept in touch with you, I was so busy with work, with Audrey and of course with Alex.
I feel my heart beginning to hurt.
Me: It's fine. I understand. Louis is doing his very best to be a father to Ben and Ben loves being with Louis too. I hope you received the wedding invitation. I'd want to see you and Audrey with Alex on that day.
Let's see what you feel about that, you idiot.
Harry: You're really marrying him?
My breathing hitched for a second as soon as I read his message.
Me: Yes. Why shouldn't I marry Louis?
Harry: You know what? You're right. Why shouldn't you marry Louis right? I mean Louis has been there for you all along when I wasn't. Louis has been an amazing father to Ben when I wasn't. Louis loved you so much more than I can ever do.
I feel my tears beginning to gather but I don't want to let if fall. I don't want to cry over Harry anymore. I'm tired of him appearing here then the next second he's gone.
Me: Yes. And even though I told him I don't deserve him after what we did, he still accepted me. His love is greater than I thought it would be. He's the man I wanna be with. Not you.
The door swings open and Louis stands there with a smile on his face. I quickly placed my phone down on the bed and the book as well as Louis gets closer to me.
"Im sorry I came home late than I should." He says while kissing my lips briefly.
"You got me worried." I snapped.
"Sorry." He runs his thumb over my cheek.
"I have a surprise for you by the way."
My brows began creasing. "What is it this time?"
He smirks.
"Tomorrow morning. You'll find out about it tomorrow so I want you to wake up early. We need to go somewhere." He tells me.
"Where?"
"That's the surprise." He kisses my cheek.
I'm excited.
For real.
He smiles at me and he seems excited to show it to me too.
"Have you eaten?" I asked him.
He nods. "Did you wait long for me?"
"Not so. You just got me worried."
He kissed my cheek, "Sorry. Oh! So you're reading the novel I bought you."
"Yeah, I'm halfway through it while I was waiting for you."
