Charlene quickly tried to cover up her nervousness.

"You're precious to me, so be careful. By the way, once Daniel returns, make sure you tell me right away. I'll deal with him… Do you think that idiot ran off and got himself into trouble?" Jennifer's tone showed genuine concern.

Charlene hastily ended the video call.

"Hello? Hello?"

Holding the phone, Jennifer felt frustrated. She hadn't expected Charlene to hang up so quickly. She wondered what Charlene was hiding from her.

Charlene continued, "The reason I went to the bar yesterday was because Scarlet—the woman you saw today—was kidnapped by thugs. She's my assistant. I couldn't just sit by and do nothing, so I went to the bar to pay the debt and save her.

"I didn't expect that bastard to drug my drink. I thought you had taken the chance to attack me.

"Anyway, thank you, Daniel. Scarlet and I would have been in big trouble if it weren't for you."
