"You don't understand Aaron," Serena said, her eyes fixed on the horizon as the light in them began to fade. "If I don't go back, I'm afraid Samuel, Claire, and Joy might be in danger."

Zachary's expression changed instantly.

"Please, take me back," Serena added with a smile that didn't quite reach her eyes.

Zachary sighed, recognizing the forced cheerfulness in Serena's demeanor.

"Alright."

"Thank you, Uncle," Serena said before retreating into the cabin.

Half an hour later.

The boat came to a stop at the dock.

Serena took a deep breath before stepping out of the cabin.

On the shore, a fleet of sleek black sedans awaited them, their headlights illuminating the beach as if it were broad daylight.

Serena immediately spotted Aaron.

He seemed leaner than before, yet his posture remained as straight as an arrow.

His stern features appeared even more chiseled under the moonlight, with his dark eyes exuding an air of authority and cold detachment.

Serena walked towards Aaron, each step she took causing her gaze to grow colder.

In the past, she had approached Aaron with the fervor of a moth to a flame.

"Get in the car."

"Where's Claire?" Serena asked, scanning the beach but unable to find Claire.

"But honestly, from what I've seen, Mr. Vance seems to care about you. Maybe he loves you, so going back with him might not be such a bad thing."

Serena offered a resigned smile.

Claire had misjudged the situation, but it wasn't her fault.

Claire didn't follow the online gossip and wasn't aware of Aaron's past loves.

"When you guys arrived earlier, he asked me all about how you've been here, what you eat, how you're feeling, all very attentively. I don't know what caused your rift, but I believe if there's love, any problem can be resolved."

Serena listened quietly, choosing not to argue.

Once Claire finished, Serena said, "Claire, I have to go. You and Uncle Zachary take care of yourselves. I'll visit when I can."

"Alright," Claire replied, her eyes lingering on Serena with reluctance.

Serena offered Zachary a few reassuring words before heading towards Aaron's car.

Victor, noticing Serena in the rearview mirror, quickly got out to open the door for her.
