The door swung open to reveal a disheveled man standing in the doorway. His eyes widened in terror when he saw Serena. In that moment, Serena realized that this was the very man who had tricked her into going to the hospital—Dr. Owens.

Without hesitation, she reached into her bag and pulled out a small handgun, smirking at the man as he turned to flee. "Think you can outrun a bullet?" she taunted.

Dr. Owens turned back, his eyes fixated on the weapon with fear. His legs gave out, and he crumpled to the floor, paralyzed by fear.

There was another person in the room—a nurse. Hearing the commotion, she emerged from within, only to fall to her knees at the sight of the gun, whimpering quietly.

Rock, standing nearby, was equally stunned. As a private investigator accustomed to navigating the gray areas of life, he had seen guns before. But never in his wildest dreams did he expect soft-spoken Serena to be wielding one.

"Shut the door," Serena's command snapped Rock back to reality. He complied, closing the door and plunging the already dark room into an even deeper silence.

Serena didn’t bother turning on the lights. Instead, she activated her phone's flashlight, casting a cold beam onto the two figures crumpled on the floor.

The harsh light illuminated her face, lending her an ethereal, almost spectral quality. Her eyes, stripped of warmth, seemed merciless and otherworldly, like a specter from the underworld.

Rock couldn't help but see someone else in Serena at that moment—Aaron, the master of Alderburg.

"Speak…" Serena pressed the gun against Dr. Owens’ chin, her voice icy and demanding. "Who sent you to lure me to the hospital? And who told you my kidney was a match for Cynthia Lynwood's?"

"Where's the recording?" Serena demanded.

"In… in my phone…" Dr. Owens began to move but was immediately halted by Serena’s firm grip.

"Rock, you get it." Serena instructed.

Rock, still reeling from the shock, collected himself and retrieved Dr. Owens’ phone.
