Catch Her By Her Scent novel Chapter 53

We went to all of the packs on the map in two weeks, but we saved the Texas and California packs for last. We got all of the packs to agree so far to go into war with us. The odds of winning were getting better and better each day. The bond between Jay and I also seemed to be getting stronger and we were getting closer. I am so happy about that, partially because it felt good and the other part was it will be easier to get back at him.

We are going to the packs in Texas today, there are only three and they are fairly small so we should be able to get through them all today. We went to the one on the border to Mexico and the one in south eastern border. They didn't know anything about the person we were looking for, but they did join us. The last pack was the biggest it took up most of Texas.

We got to the pack right after we ate lunch. The Alpha on this territory seemed to be more hostile than the rest of the other Alphas. He didn't even let us come into the pack house. We talked outside and he didn't even talk with his pack when he shot us down.

"Please Alpha we need all the help we can get. Would you reconsider or talk to your pack about it. Please sir…" I was talking when he cut me off.

"Get off of my territory before I do something rash. I don't care who you are or what you're trying to do. I don't care if it's good or bad. I am not helping you. NOW GO!" He yells using his Alpha voice.

I gawk at him, but try one last time, but this time for information about the person here, "We will go, but first I must ask if you know of anyone with strange powers or weird events that have happened."

"GO!" He said again.

Jay and I look at each other, we both know that he most likely knew something and wasn't telling us about it. We weren't going to risk anything though. We would come back and find whoever it was, but we will have more information. Right now we still have recruiting to do and research about whoever these people were that were going to have to help us.

We decided it was best if we didn't stay in Texas and went to the largest pack in California. Unfortunately we got the same response as the pack in Texas. Now we knew that something wasn't right, but we would have to wait until later to get to the bottom of it and find the people were looking for.

We went back to my pack in Oklahoma. As soon as we got there Max asked us all about what had happened and how things panned out. We told him that all of the packs joined us except the pack in Texas and California. We told him how they reacted when we asked about people with special powers and he agreed with us.
