The rest of Anne’s words were cut off by the sharp slap Dylan delivered, leaving her stunned, hand clutching her face. She looked at him in disbelief, struggling to process what had just happened. “Mr. Dylan, I thought you… thought you trusted…” 

Before she could finish, Dylan’s hand shot up, clamping around her neck with an iron grip. The air in her lungs seemed to collapse, like a deflating balloon, as a suffocating pressure spread through her body. 

Helena, still reeling from the initial shock of Dylan’s slap, rushed forward in a panic. “Mr. Wright, please, I know you’re angry, but Anne had nothing to do with this!” 

Desperation clearin her voice, she pleaded, “It was all my doing! Anne knew nothing about it. Please don’t let what I did come between you two.” 

Dylan’s gaze hardened as he looked at Helena, his grip on Anne’s neck tightening even further. Her face flushed red, then drained to a ghostly white, as if she’d lose 

consciousness any second. 

Terrified, Helena fell to her knees, her voice trembling. “Please, Mr. Wright, take my life if you must, but let Anne go!! 

Dylan’s eyes flashed with cold fury as he released Anne, sending her sprawling to the floor. 

Helena rushed to cradle her daughter, who gasped for air. 

Once Anne’s breathing steadied, she shakily pushed Helena aside and crawled over to Dylan, clinging to his leg. “Mr. Dylan, I know you’re furious, but I swear on everything, I did nothing wrong.” 

Without a word, Dylan kicked her away, his expression unyielding. “Take them both to the police.” 

Desmond, standing nearby, snapped his fingers, and within seconds, several men in black entered, swiftly binding both women and hauling them out. 

“Mr. Dylan… Mr. Dylan…” Anne called after him, her voice growing weaker as he walked away without a backward glance. 

Once outside, Dylan’s dark, foreboding mood was palpable. 

Desmond glanced at him in the rearview mirror several times before cautiously suggesting, “Perhaps we should visit the hospital to check on Mr. Harlow?” 

Dylan met his eyes with a steely look. “What does that have to do with me?” 

“Well… we were there when it happened, and since there are business ties between Wright Corporation and the Harlows, a courtesy visit might… smooth things over.”

Dylan cast Desmond another glance. “Turn around.” 

Desmond sighed internally–he’d never met anyone more stubborn. 

At the hospital, Suzy stayed by Claude’s side as he underwent several tests. 

Her concerns had been valid; his pulse irregularities had indicated something serious. It turned out he had fluid buildup in both lungs, a condition that required immediate surgery to drain the excess. 

Even though it was a relatively minor procedure, Suzy’s worry was palpable, and she offered to perform the surgery herself. But Claude gently refused. 

“It’s a minor operation, Suzy. The doctors here are highly skilled. Don’t worry. 

She still looked unsettled. “There’s no such thing as a ‘minor‘ surgery–every operation carries risks.” 

Then, a thought crossed her mind, a nagging question that hadn’t left her since the incident. “When Desmond was pushing your wheelchair… how did it tip over?” 

She’d wanted to ask on the way here, but seeing how unwell Claude was, she had held back 

until now. 

Claude shook his head. “I don’t know. One moment everything was fine, and then suddenly, it felt like I lost balance and was thrown out of the chair. 

A dark suspicion filled her mind.
