She took the tray to his office. The door was open. As she was about to knock, she saw Tanya sitting on Chase’s lap, kissing him.
Ashley froze, her face draining of color. Tanya jumped off. Chase’s face was grim.“Who let you in?!”
Ashley clutched the tray.“I brought you coffee.”
“Ashley,” another assistant, Justin, arrived. He knew about her and Chase.“This is pointless.” She understood. Justin thought she knew Tanya was here and that she came to disrupt them… Chase seemed to think so too. In the past, she might have done that, but things had changed. Sadly, they wouldn’t give her a chance to explain.
Justin coldly said, “Leave now!”
Ashley’s eyes welled up. Her hands trembled. Coffee spilled, burning her fingers. She didn’t cry out but turned to leave.
“Don’t come back,” Chase called from his office. She’d already resigned. She’d leave after her replacement was found. But no one cared, and saying anything was pointless.
