"You know that you are out of your lines by stepping into the hotel."
Elisa, the new acting manager of the Boldyville Hotel lashed out at the man who was seated before her, in the manager's office. The position which Shelton used to fill.
"I'm sorry, Miss Elisa. News got to us that the hotel has a new owner. You know how huge this is. If I'm able to put the information together, you know what a big shot I'll be in the media world. I don't want the Vaneal Papers to steal it from me."
Elisa stared at the man as though she wasn't interested in what he was saying. At the beginning of the conversation, she had kept her attention on the files before her. She had more than enough to do already, let alone allowing someone to add to it.
"I'll be doing this, not because my uncle is your dad's good friend. I'll be doing it because you are an ambitious man."
The man nodded eagerly. It was very obvious he couldn't wait to get the gist of what she was about to say. His ears were perked up, and his eyes running through her face.
"First thing, you got it all wrong."
She started.
"Huh? What do you mean?"
The media personnel was quite a fast talker. His tongue would move so swiftly that if one didn't pay the right amount of attention, his words would fly over the head of the person.
"Not only the hotel has a new owner, but the whole Estate."
"What!!!"
The man with unkept moustache exclaimed.
"Please you want to comport yourself accordingly. You do know the class of people that use this hotel."
Elisa cautioned the man, who was still having a hard to get a grip. He looked like he was having a hard time believing what had just been tossed to his ears.
"I'm sorry. I just don't know how to accept it. I mean, we all know how ---"
The man took a pause as though he was trying to choose his words carefully. He pushed his body forward in the chair,
"You mean the eagle's tower included?!"
Elisa chuckled softly before nodding. The man's eyes widened. He gulped. He shook his head. It was hard for Elisa to tell why he was finding it quite hard to believe.
"I think we are done here then. I've answered your question, it's about time you used the door."
Elisa was eager to send the man away. She had a very strong reason to back up her intention.
"Please a last request."
He threw at her.
"Seriously, you know Miss, that it would be useless if this last part is not achieved."
"How am supposed to know... I'm a manager, you are more like a journalist. A reporter. Our jobs have no string of resemblance let alone similarities."
The reporter was smart enough to know that she was trying to get rid of him, but he was rather shameless and was equally proud to flaunt it. He didn't seem to care.
"You have a point... but please can I have a sort of interview with the new owner? Please, I'm begging you..."
Elisa's eyebrows were raised. She seemed perturbed at how desperate the reporter was. For real, she couldn't tell much about what was going on in the media world, since she knew that majority of the news put out were diluted: 93% lies and 7% truth.
"See, Mr Roland. I would be very happy to flaunt my new boss to you. It would have been a great pleasure. But he ---"
She hesitated for a while, as though for a moment she forgot what she was supposed to say.
"This is strictly and highly confidential."
"I'll be so grateful if you let me in on it. I will be forever indebted to you."
Elisa threw her face to the side for a while. She probably was contemplating on whether or not to let the man know.
"He is on a top-tier business trip. He isn't around and I can't tell when he would be back. So, please never again should you come back here to address the same topic."
"But I can come to address another topics?"
"Okay that's it. Your time is up. You may use the door."
The man stood up, a creepy smile filling his face. He walked towards the door. When he was halfway close, he turned to her,
"Thank you for giving me the chance to be a top reporter. You have no idea what this news will do."
He bowed at her and turned to get the door.
"One more thing."
She called at him and he spun around as though he had been waiting for that call all his life.
"I think it's important that you know that my boss is very young... about twenty years old. That should earn you a fortune right?"
"OMG!!!... twenty...???"
Roland was flushed by shock caressed by surprise. Elisa nodded, meeting him with a wild smile.
"One more favor please... could you tell me how much the whole Estate is worth?"
Elisa dropped her head in frustration.
"Fucking reporters with insatiable urge to know more. Get out now before I call security on you."
She had a change of mind and got on her feet,
"In short, I'll be walking you out."
As she edged towards him, he knew that he had no other choice but to leave. He got the door and stepped into the hallway. She followed him, maintaining a close distance behind him. He would occasionally look back at her.
After they used the elevator, they stepped into the reception hall which had new faces, mostly ladies; new recruits for the hotel.
"Have a nice day."
Roland yet didn't want to leave even though he was standing at the exit door. The security men shot him wild glares and he knew he had no other choices. He clutched his camera to his chest,
"Special appreciation to the newest manager in town. Do not worry, I'll keep your identity hidden for the meantime."
