Damien sighed in relief. He made it so loud that the person seated before him couldn't help but say,

"Are you alright? I mean you looked blown away since the past two minutes."

Mathew's voice was enough to nudge Damien back into the reality. He gazed upon Mathew,

"Huh... it's nothing. Just thinking about this and that."

Those words had fallen from his lips before he realized that he didn't really need to explain himself to Mathew. Mathew of all people.

He couldn't take back the words nor the reaction, so there was no point looking back at the past. There was no point in it.

He picked up his phone and looked. There was a missed call. From Elisa.

WHAT'S THE MATTER? WHY DID SHE CALL? ARE THE GIRLS ALREADY UP TO NO GOOD?

He didn't know whether or not to keep up the thought. It didn't matter. He would address it later. Obviously.

"So when are we going to hold the meeting with the board? You said to keep them closer. Do you have a date?"

Mathew was quick to change the topic, and Damien did like that.

"Must I be a part of it? Can't you absorb them without my presence?"

"Of course I can, I just thought that it would be better if you were there. I mean, they've been looking forward to meeting you."

Mathew stressed. Damien stared at him for a while. The Mathew he used to know would be eager to do it all by himself. He would want to be the centre of it all. What changed about him?

Damien wasn't sure what answer to give to that. He didn't want to overthink it too.

"Did you choose a date yet?"

He bounced the question back at Mathew.

"I'll think of it. I thought you would be the one handling it."

"I am. You are just representing me. I would had loved to meet them, but not yet. I still have a lot of things to do than to get tied down by such a little thing."

Mathew eyes bulged at his sockets as soon as Damien took a pause.

"Little thing? Are you really calling BMX group a little thing?"

Mathew seemed to be having quite a problem believing his ears.

"You think otherwise?"

Damien teased. Mathew kept a stare. It was obvious that he didn't know what else to say.

"Yea. That reminds me."

He continued. Mathew's ears were perked up.

"You talked about your sister some times back. I see that your mood is quite light ever since the girls returned. Why do I have a feeling that she is one of them?"

Mathew's face was impregnable at this time, but it was quite obvious that he was hiding something.

Damien on the other hand didn't want to take guesses. But he decided to take things for their face values.

"I'll get going then. There are couple things that I have to do."

Mathew was now on his feet. Damien wanted to take it on, and shake the fellow a bit but he didn't. He decided to let the feeling pass.

"A day after tomorrow."

He called and Mathew, who was already walking away, halted. He turned to Damien.

"Meet with them a day after tomorrow. You should have some time to rest too."

Mathew nodded and was going to turn away again.

"What did we say your salary would be?"

Damien asked. There was excitement in Mathew's face as he glanced at Damien. Damien could laugh out loud, but he knew how he would had felt too when it has to do with money.

"Fifty thousand dollars per month, boss."

Damien thought about it for a while, looking Mathew directly in the eyes. The gaze was a mere stimulant of his thoughts.

"We'll make it a three million."

Mathew face lit up at once.

"What!!!"

He exclaimed. He was beginning to walk towards Damien in unspoken gratitude when Damien shot,

"Leave before I change my mind."

It was quite a difficult choice for Mathew to make. He wanted so bad to stay back and appreciate his benefactor, but this benefactor didn't give a damn about the appreciation.

"If you keep proving yourself worthy of the salary, it'll increase momentarily."

"Momentarily?!!"

Mathew couldn't believe his ears.
