"You were about ten minutes late. We all had something to do, sir. I'm just saying, that we deserve an explanation."

Damien knew already that the men were going yo say something. He had watched them look from one person ro the other. He had waited for one of them to man up, and finally one did. It was quite a bother to think that the men couldn't speak up when the person in question is a young boy.

He made sure to pick each of the men in his gaze. Finally his gaze dropped on Denzel, Marcot jnr. He had invited the lad to join them in the meeting.

The boy had been stunned when Damien invited him. Not even a minister could be invited to the board meeting of BMX group, but a young boy was? Even if he was the son of one of the members, that was nothing close to a qualification.

"And we would love also to know why you invited Denzel to join us in today's meeting. Its against protocol. As much as we know and agree that an owner could do whatever he wants with his firm, yet I guess we deserve a sort of explanation."

"On both issues."

Another person added.

This was exactly what Damien had expected when he thought of the board members of the BMX group. He was glad that he wasn't disappointed.

He would had been sad and mad if he had walked into the room to meet a group of middle aged men who were cowering before him. Of course he would demand that they respected him, but not do so at the expense of their sanity.

He loved a setting where everyone is free to express their opinions, yet unable to kick his aside. That was exactly what he did with the girls, and somehow it helped him know the girls for who they were. If he had broken their wings at meeting, they would have been pretending.

Even giving them freedom didn't stop some of them from pretending. A name came to his mind, but that wasn't the time to worry about the girls. There is more to do now, and the last thing wss them. Business was calling.

"I don't think I can apologise."

He started. He got the reactions which he had anticipated; gentle murmurs travelling across the room.

"Mr Marcot, should I apologise?"

He didn't know who Mr Marcot was but he acted as though he did.

"Ermmmm... I mean..."

Mr Marcot couldn't quite find his voice. He had bald head.

"Denzel delayed me on my way in, and I had no choice but to let him do his job, though he took it quite personally. Which brings me to the major reason why I can't apologise."

He took a pause. It was as though he wss doing it intentionally to let the word sink into the heads of the men.

"If you really me want to apologise, then I'd have to sack Denzel and his father."

"What!"

He heard an exclamation which ran from one corner of the room to the other.

"Denzel... you should speak for yourself so that I won't seem like an evil person."

He called at Denzel who stood up.

"I... I.... I mean... He... We..."

Denzel couldn't quite find his words. His father was keeping track of what was happening.

"I don't think we should take this on. Let's just forget about all these."

Mr Marcot finally came on. It was obvious in the faces of some of the members that they didn't quite agree, but none of them seemed to have anything to say.

The reason was because Mr Marcot was the next person who had the biggest share after Mr Colton. Not that he had relevance to the company now that it has been sold. But for some reason which is political, the rest of the members knew when to push their lucks.

Before, no one wants to get on the bad side of Mr Colton, but now tables have turned and Mr Marcot wss the one close to a god in the board.
