Of the Angela Lynn Car stories I have ever read, perhaps the most impressive one is Excuse Me, I Quit!. The story is too good, leaving me with many doubts. Currently, the manga has been translated to Chapter 17. Let's read the author's Excuse Me, I Quit! Angela Lynn Car story right here.
Annie's P.O.V.
I shouldn't have gotten ahead of myself and expected Evan to accept me completely. I knew what he thought of me already and it wasn't anything different than what others say about me every day. I was an unattractive, awkward girl with glasses who could never be with someone like Evan. Even my own mother would agree with me on that. How could I let myself swayed by him? He must've felt sorry for me or thought I'd be easy to use then throw away. I am so stupid!
"Annie, are you okay?" Mike's voice was full of concern as he led me to my front door.
"Yes. Thank you for escorting me to my house," I said.
"Anytime. I know what Evan said upset you a great deal so I wouldn't have left you alone even if you asked," Mike said.
"He was right though," I said.
"No, he wasn't! He shouldn't be ashamed to be with you if he really likes you! And trust me, I mean it when I said you are really cute and I have so much fun talking to you," he smiled.
I didn't want to trust another guy so soon but he sounded genuine. I was starting to feel better already.
"Thank you," I said quietly.
"Hey, if you aren't busy this Friday. Would you want to go to the football game with me? I understand if it's not your thing but I would really love it if you came?" he said.
I've never been invited to a game before. Especially not with a guy, so my heart fluttered at the thought. Mike was asking me out?
"Why are you asking me?" I looked at him suspiciously.
"Because I like you? Not everyone has bad intentions, Annie. Just because one jerk hurt you doesn't mean you can't take a chance with another one. Not that I am saying I am a jerk," he chuckled.
I thought about it for a minute. At this point, I've been burnt by everyone so many times that I was becoming immune to it. I decided to take a chance with Mike.
"Okay. I will go to the game with you," I said and smiled.
Mike looked excited. "Alright! We will have a lot of fun, you'll see," he promised.
I hope so.
Mike's P.O.V.
I've known Evan since we were little. He had always been the type who enjoyed being the alpha male. He likes to boss people around and push them to do things his way. I was no different. But, he was my best friend so I didn't mind. It wasn't like he was intentionally hurting me. He even protected me in many instances. He is like a brother to me.
He never took girls in our school seriously. He used his good looks and charms to lure girls in and then ditch them as soon as he got tired of them. I on the other hand liked to have long relationships. I believe in true love.
