Annie's P.O.V.
Ever since I was a little girl, I had been bullied because of my glasses. Kids made fun of me all throughout elementary and middle school. Called me names like a nerd, four-eye, dork, and many more. I mean...hello! It's not like I choose to wear glasses this thick! I admit I don't exactly look attractive with these covering half of my face but without them, I can't see a thing. My whole world is blurry. Stupid rare eye condition. Why couldn't I be born normal like everyone else?
Even with all the teasing and bullying, I was surviving just fine. Until I met Evan...
At first, he didn't pay attention to me just like everybody else. But then one day he called me over to him as I was on my way to lunch.
"Hey, you! With the glasses!" he said.
"Huh? Me?" I was confused. Why was Evan Williams talking to me?
It was the first month of my freshman year. I noticed him right away as he was really good looking with his bright blue eyes and the boyish lopsided grin. Way out of my league. Not that it mattered. No boy ever liked me anyways.
"What the fuck are you staring at, freak?" he barked when he saw me looking at him. And that was the only thing he said to me that month.
So don't blame me for being surprised when he suddenly talked to me!
"Yes, I am talking to you. Do you see anyone else with glasses?" he said and narrowed his eyes at me.
"N...no..." I stammered. I felt really nervous. I was not good at dealing with boys.
"Well don't just stand there like a dumb lamp post. Come over here," he ordered.
I didn't argue. He was kind of scary with his tall and muscular physic. He practically towered over me.
"I've been watching you for a while now," he said.
I blushed. He noticed me? That's surprising.
"So, I've decided you are gonna be my errand girl now," he declared.
Wait...what?
"Wha...what do you mean?" I asked hesitantly.
"I mean, you gonna do everything I ask you. Starting from now. Go buy me some snacks from the vending machine," he ordered.
"I don't understand," I said.
He leaned down and grabbed my shoulders. His blue eyes bored into mine. "Let me spell this out for you little freshman since you are new. I rule this goddamn school. You are in my territory now. That means you don't want to make me angry."
Of course...I should've expected this. I was going to be bullied once again.
"What if I said no?" I asked meekly.
"Then I will get real angry. And when I am angry, bad things will happen to you. Things you can't even imagine." he snarled.
Ugh! Why me!
"I...I'll go get your snacks," I said.
"Good girl," he said and patted me on the head.
I ran off feeling scared and humiliated. This was a disaster. I had no idea he was such a bully. I came back with snacks and handed them to him.
"Here are your snacks, can I go now?" I said hurriedly.
"Okay. For now, since you did such a good job," he said and shoved some money in my hands.
"Wha...what's it for?" I looked at him quizzically.
"For the damn snacks, what else? I said you are my errand girl, not my sugar mama. Now get out of here," he barked.
I didn't hesitate for another minute and ran far away from him.
