Colleen held onto Skylar's hand tightly as she heaved a sigh. “I heard from Avery that you're with Tobias. He's so much older than you, while you aren't even twenty-two. Are you sure you know what you want? Even though I don't live here, I've heard of the Ford Group. A man like him has money and authority. It's hard to say that he won't have another woman in time to come. Perhaps you're still young and don't think there's any problem staying beside him. But I think it's better for you to find someone dependable to marry instead of trying to blend into a circle that you can't fit in. It's useless being overambitious.”

Hearing those words, Skylar fell into deep thoughts. As much as it was a piece of friendly advice, she felt a stabbing pain in her chest as those words, especially the last sentence, pierced through her like a sharp blade.

Ultimately, she figured she was the one who despised herself first.

Moments later, Skylar finally broke the silence. “I have my way of dealing with things. I'm still young and have a long road ahead of me. What's more, every relationship has its risks. There's no way to avoid it.”

As the two were chatting, they heard the sound of the door opening.

“You're back so early?” A man's voice sounded.

Turning around, Skylar saw Tobias walking in.

Only then did he notice Colleen's presence. The old lady before his eyes was not only full of energy but also strong and fit.

Conversely, Colleen was reminded of the rumors she had heard about the Ford Group and the heinous dealings the man had engaged in.

Even though she was not someone who loathed unscrupulous businessmen, she could not help but feel a whirl of fury burned within her at the mere thought of how Tobias had used the acquisition to kick Thomas out of the Quest Group.

A mere look at the man's sharp and grim gazes was enough to tell how unapproachable he was.

“You should be Skylar's grandmother, am I right? I'm Tobias Ford.” It was almost as though Tobias could read one's mind that he could tell Colleen's resistant stance toward him from her eyes.

She confidently answered, “Indeed. But that won't affect anything. Don't your family dislike me too? You and I are still getting along perfectly well despite so.”

At the mention of his family, Tobias felt a throbbing headache. His drop by to the Ford residence last night had triggered Claudia's persistent nagging about getting a grandchild in the early morning.

As she said that, she clutched her chest tightly. She nagged about her fear of how she would not be able to live to see her grandchildren and she even emphasized how having a child was of utmost importance to a family.

Looking at Skylar before his eyes, he wondered how she would be able to become someone's mother when she was still a child.

Later, Skylar told Tobias about the birthday banquet. Yet, Tobias remembered the date he attended Thomas' birthday banquet the other time was different from what Skylar had just mentioned.

The man found it bizarre that the so-called birthday banquet would take place on a random date, and Skylar had received the invitation to attend. Nonetheless, he could not figure out what was up in their sleeves.
