Gia’s eyes welled up with tears as she said, “Ms. Logan, seriously, you’re like an angel!” 

Mariela let out a sigh, tinged with a bit of bitterness, “This is the best I can do.” 

Gia quickly chimed in, “That’s more than enough to help them, Ms. Logan,” 

“Hope so…” 

Meanwhile, Lennon was on his way to the law firm. 

He had driven for less than five minutes when the base manager called. 

“Mr. Stark, there’s a problem with Dalia!” 

Lennon frowned and asked coldly, “What happened?” 

Mariela sorted through the case materials, turned off her computer, and by the time she made it downstairs, it was already 8:30 PM. 

She stood downstairs briefly, and then Lennon called. 

Mariela answered. 

“Where are you?” 

“Sorry, Marie, I can’t make it. You’ll need to get back by yourself. I’ve got some urgent things to deal with here.” 

Mariela asked, “What’s wrong?” 

“Hard to explain now. I’ll tell 

you in person later.”

After ending the call, Mariela headed down to the underground parking lot to get her car. 

She hadn’t eat 

dinner yet, and her stomach was growling. 

She swung by a nearby eatery for a quick bite to tide over her hunger. By the time she got back to her neighborhood, it was 10 PM. 

Mariela parked her car and pressed the elevator button. 

When she reached her door and unlocked it with her fingerprint, she heard someone call her name from behind. 

“Marie.” 

It was Jaime. 

He wore a dark grey coat, looked handsome, and stood firmly under the light with a slight smile. 

He seemed quite decent. 

Seeing Jaime suddenly there, Mariela frowned.“Jaime, what are you doing here?” 

Instead of answering, Jaime asked, “Where were you today? Why are you back so late?” 

Mariela’s brow furrowed.“That’s none of your business.” 

Jaime shrugged. “I’m just concerned about you.” 

“Not necessary.” 

Mariela didn’t want to talk to him anymore and pushed the door to go inside.“Marie, do you know where Lennon is tonight?” 

Mariela stopped. 

Jaime continued from behind her, “He’s with Dalia now.” 

Seeing Mariela stop, a triumphant smile briefly appeared in Jaime’s eyes. He said slowly, “He probably didn’t tell you he’s seeing Dalia.” 

Mariela turned around and glared up at him.“Jaime, did you come here just to spout this stuff and drive a wedge between me and Lennon? Do you really think I’ll buy any of it?”
