Mariela paused, then swiftly switched her annoyed look to a smile, her face shifting quickly ‘Lenny, you’re here? 

Lennon’s brows knit slightly. “Did you just mention Jaime? 

Mariela didn’t conceal anything and answered, Jaime just knocked on the door.” 

Lennon noticed the breakfast bag leaning against the wall. He lowered his eyes, his voice devoid of emotion. “He brought you 

Yep. He’s totally insane. I was sleeping, and he woke me up.” 

As Mariela spoke, the dislike and irritation in her eyes were evident. 

Lennon asked, “How did he know your floor and room number?” 

This question confused Mariela. 

Right, she had never told Jaime her floor and room number. How did he know? 

Mariela responded blankly, “I don’t know either.” 

Lennon frowned.“Don’t worry. I’ll figure this out. Can I come in?” 

Mariela moved aside to let Lennon in. 

After entering, Lennon took off his gray wool coat and hung it on a wall hook. 

Mariela bent down to put a pair of men’s slippers next to Lennon’s feet.

While Lennon was changing shoes, Mariela tried to seem calm and asked casually, “By the way, Lenny, you mentioned an urgent matter last night. What was it? Is it resolved?” 

Lennon halted, his voice even as he stated, “It was about Dalia.” 

Seeing his honesty, Mariela’s worried heart calmed down. 

She exhaled softly, and her body relaxed. 

Luckily, he didn’t plan to hide anything. 

She realized she hadn’t misjudged him. Lennon was not like Jaime. 

“Dalia?” Mariela asked, “Isn’t she in the detention center?” 

Lennon, having changed his shoes, said, “I’m sorry, Mariela. I didn’t tell you earlier because I didn’t want to worry you. A month ago, Dalia lied about being pregnant and was kidnapped on her way to the hospital for a check–up.” 

This was similar to what Jaime had said the previous night. 

The only difference was Lennon used the word “lied.” 

“So she wasn’t actually pregnant?” 

Lennon nodded. “Yes, we’ve been looking for her since she was taken away. We found her in a telecom fraud operation on the Zentara border. She confessed she was never pregnant.” Mariela followed Lennon into the living room.“Who did that? And why?”
