Mariela walked over and soon found Gia sobbing. 

“Gia, are you okay?” Mariela asked with concern, and her voice was gentle. “What happened?* 

Gia pulled two tissues and wiped her tears off haphazardly. “Ms. Logan, I, I am fine.” 

Mariela pulled a chair over and sat down.“Come on! Tell me what happened, and let me see what I can do.” 

Red–eyed, Gia remained silent for a moment before she stuttered, “Not a big deal. I… 

Right then, two colleagues walked past. Instantly, Gia shut up for fear of being overheard.

Mariela got the hint right away.“Is it inconvenient to talk right here? Do you have plans for tonight? If not, what do you think of dining with 

me?” 

“I have no plans.” 

“Great. Pack up your stuff now.” 

Mariela chose a barbecue restaurant as Gia preferred. 

The decoration of the restaurant was classy, and the dim light provided a little relief. 

Gia had heard of this restaurant, high–end and expensive. 

With a hint of embarrassment on her face, she asked, “Ms. Logan, the food here isn’t cheap, is it?” 

Mariela smiled.“My treat. Don’t worry.” 

After the farces about Andrew and Jessie, Mariela became close with Gia. Now, they were friends, more than just colleagues. 

Gia still felt embarrassed.“Oh, you are so nice, but…” 

“You are in a bad mood, so I, your friend, treat you to a good dinner to make you happy. What’s wrong with that?” 

Gia slightly pursed her lips and gratefully accepted Mariela’s kindness.“Well, thank you very much, Ms. Logan.” 

“Come on! We are friends, so call me Marie.” 

Gia responded with a smile, “Okay, Marie.” 

Mariela chose a table by the window and said, “The view is 

great.

“Um.” Reserved, Gia sat opposite Mariela. 

“Choose whatever you like.” Mariela handed the menu to Gia. 

Gia waved her hand.“Marie, I am not picky. I will eat whatever you 

choose.” 

Knowing that Gia was reserved, Mariela nodded, took back the menu, and chose several signature dishes and some vegetables. 

The raw meat was quickly served, and the waiter helped with the grilling. 

After the meat was grilled and sent to the plate, Mariela expressed her gratitude to the waiter and asked for privacy. 

“Tell me what happened,” Mariela said after the waiter walked away. 

Alone with Mariela now, Gia became candid.“Not a big deal. I got scolded by Ms. Vazquez today.” 

“Eva?” 

“Yes.” 

Gia was now working for Eva. Mariela didn’t have much contact with Eva, but she had heard from others that Eva was moody. Eva was soft when she was in a good mood, and she made her assistants an outlet for her negative emotions when she was down.
