Bryce fell silent. 

He’d never met anyone who could smooth–talk themselves out of a situation like this. 

Bryce forced a faint smile. “Mr. Stark, you really know how to crack a joke.” 

The elevator arrived. 

The door opened, and they entered the elevator together. 

“Mr. Stark, have you ever heard a saying?” The reflective material on the interior wall of the elevator reflected Bryce’s handsome face.“Those close to the sources have a better chance of getting them.” 

Lennon smiled indifferently and said, “Have you ever heard another saying? Don’t break your shins on your neighbors‘ pots.” 

Bryce was choked. 

Then, he quickly said, “Well, I know what I’m doing.I have never tried that before. It would be fun to get to experience something new.” 

The atmosphere in the confined space grew tense as neither man backed down. 

Lennon’s smile turned cold.“Is that so? I disagree. If one has no feelings for their suitors, they will reject them again just as they did the first time. And if one has fallen in love with someone, they would fall in love with the same person again because love is profound.” 

Bryce’s lips tightened, and his eyes turned grim. 

“Mr. Stark, you seem very confident,” Bryce said, his voice icy.“But how does a heart heal after being broken? If someone gave their all to love, only to be hurt, why would anyone be foolish enough to give them a second chance to hurt themselves?” 

The smile on Lennon’s lips grew cold, and he stopped speaking. 

The elevator quickly arrived at the underground parking lot. 

The door opened. 

Lennon stepped out first. 

Bryce followed, his face expressionless. 

He said silently, “Lennon, let’s wait and see.” 

After work on Friday, Mariela gathered her things and left the office, running into Bryce. 

He looked composed as he said, “Ms. Logan, there’s something I think I need to clear up It’s been bothering me.”
