Everyone let out a collective sigh of relief. 

Lennon’s dull eyes finally sparked with hope, and the weight on his heart lifted a bit. 

Lennon closed his eyes, then opened them, and said earnestly, “Thank you, doctor,” 

The others were overjoyed, tearfully thanking the doctor repeatedly.

Mariela was wheeled out by several nurses. Lennon looked at her, the pale and unconscious woman, and his heart suddenly ached.

Gia sobbed, her nose red.“If anything had happened to Ms. Logan, I’d feel guilty for the rest of my life. She got hurt saving me.” 

Hailie, with bandaged feet, sat on a corridor bench, her eyes also red.“Great. Ms. Logan is okay.” Haylee didn’t cry. She exhaled, and the furrow between her brows eased. 

Jaime looked at Lennon and snorted.“Lennon, Marie almost died because of you. Stop hurting her!”
